Please see this thread and tell me if you think I'm a bad person...

so is giving until it hurts...

;););)

You can tell me that you're giving us a room.
I promise, no one will EVER know...
LOL!!

:sunny:

Are you kidding- I would have jumped all over that one also. I did read another thread though where someone said the hotel was not going to honor the rate. You might want to check that out.

Okay just read another thread that Holiday Inn is going to honor all 1200 reservations at these rate.

I don't think you should feel bad I think you should be dancing :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Holiday Inn has obviously taken a bad (unprofitable) situation and used it to their advantage... they have proven the "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade" adage... it was ALL OVER the local (Orlando) news last night, with someone from the hotel talking about how they are going to 'do the right thing' and honor all 1208 reservations... while they are losing some cash on the deal, media time is VERY expensive... the exposure that they are gaining for being 'good corporate citizens' will go a LONG WAY!!!

Not sure what I would have done in that situation... then again, I can visit the parks during the day and sleep in my own bed at night...

You're not a bad person for making the reservations, but if I were you I'd get it in writing that they'll actually honour that price. They do have a disclaimer on their website:
"SIX CONTINENTS HOTELS, INC. FURTHER DOES NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF THE INFORMATION, TEXT, GRAPHICS, LINKS OR OTHER ITEMS CONTAINED WITHIN THE MATERIALS. SCH MAY MAKE CHANGES TO THE MATERIALS, OR THE PROGRAMS, POLICIES OR OTHER INFORMATION DESCRIBED IN THE MATERIALS, AT ANY TIME WITHOUT NOTICE. SCH MAKES NO COMMITMENT TO UPDATE THE MATERIALS."

Which basically means they can change your rate/reservation at any time if they feel like it, especially true if there's been an error.

Nothing like expecting one thing and then showing up to be told either that your rate isn't valid or your reservation was cancelled because the rate wasn't valid.

I always have the Magic Castle Inn and suites as a backup and I will check on this reservation to make sure they will honour it.

I would not even complain if they called and cancelled it on me but if they honour it...YEAH FOR ME!!!

Sorry I did not get enough for all of us to go and have a Canadian DIS meet. :p

I will always return too much change given to me, but I wouldn't have a hard time cashing in on something like this. It might be a publicity stunt, or other sort of promotion. If when I go to make my purchase, they have a sign up (or whatever) regretting the error, no big deal.

Kungaloosh!
Morticia.

I think you were smart to take advantage of the offer. I would have done the exact same thing! Go and enjoy yourself and forget about the Dis Morality Police :flower:

Sorry but I couldn't have done this I can just imagine how it would feel had this been my company or what may happen to the person that posted the error they will have to recoup the loss someplace and it may cost that person thier job. I am not saying you are a bad person but after reading that you own a motel what would you feel like had your website accidently posted a rate like this and you had many many reservations for this price I bet it would hurt the bottom line. I just can't imagine taking advantage of that situation sorry just my view on it and I am sure many will disagree with it LOL.

The fact is that Holiday Inn had the right to refuse to honour it...So would I if it happened to my motel.

I am a small motel owner and I post all the prices on our web-site but we don't do reservations on the internet. I take ALL the calls for our property as I am the only one who works the office and I then transfer the calls to home.

I called Holiday Inn before I booked. The guy on the phone tried to encourage me to take more days at that price after I inquired if this was legit. He said they had been getting calls all morning about it. If it would have beed my property, I would have honoured the first caller with the price, thanked him for pointing it out and pulled the plug.

That to me says they had enough time and warning that something was wrong... If they were to not honour it I would not make a fuss but they chose to let it go for long and not pull it...Oh well...

I see your point but the same point can be made for the fact that they had calls for hours before pulling it...

I think that you are soo lucky to have been able to take advantage of their mistake! It is always nice when a major corporation make a mistake that actually benefits the consumer.

I work in television news and from everything that we found out yesterday the Holiday Inn is going to honour the posted price. I think that that is all they can do. They would lose more money by not honouring it after the press gets a hold of it.

Enjoy your trip! :Pinkbounc

Think of the extra things that you can do and still be on budget. I would spurlge on a park tour that I had always wanted to do.

A couple of years ago when I booked the Polynesian with the 'Canadian at Par' code, through these boards I learned that an error had been made so any of us who booked saved some money. If I remember correctly in my case it was about $600 U.S. Nobody offered to call CRO and ask them to fix their mistake. I certainly didn't. Does that make me a bad person? Nope. I'm amazed that the morality police seem to step on their soap boxes for something like this and yet wont get up and offer someone their seat on the bus. :firefight I've got my flame retardant suit on.

At that rate, I probably would have booked three adjoining rooms and taken the middle one to eliminate the problem of noisy neighbours. :rotfl: I personally don't think you did anything wrong. You saw a deal and booked it. I mean, if the company didn't want to honour the rate, they didn't have to ... I would have made a reservation at that rate thinking they probably wouldn't have honoured it... Anyway, there's nothing saying that someone in marketing came up with this idea and made it look like it was a mistake.

Makes me wish I hadn't been so busy this week, maybe I could have gotten in on the deal if I had more time to spend on the DIS :sunny:

Anyway, enjoy your trip and your savings! :)

I do not think you are a bad person at all. How many times do you we have overcharged, and no one has told us so. At the same time, you called and reported the charge to them, making you an honest and respectable person - how many other people would do that? Then, they honored their charge after you told them of the error making you an awfully lucky person.

Great rate - go and have a great time!

Darn.........I haven't been on the DIS for a few weeks and see what happens!
I would have booked it in a minute.

I would have done exactly what you did. Call H.I. Check it out and be prepared if they pulled it at any time. I'm so glad they are going to honor it!

It was worth more that the cost of the rooms for the buzz it created for H.I. Now maybe if we can get some other hotels around Disney to make the same "mistake" ;) Disney here we all come............ :rotfl:

Have a great time, and we'll all be looking forward to your Trip Report. I want to know what a $1.18 hotel room was like.......do you have to bring your own towels and soap ;)
