I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

I think it's fine if your previous velocity has been 3 months or more and you can get your open biz cards to 2 or less. I'm on a similar timeline and plan to get one for each of us in early October. I'll make sure the next Chase card after that is spaced longer so it still averages out to 3 months.
I hope by then we know what's happening with SW CP so I can decide whether to do another Ink for me on top of DH's. But yeah, my velocity has been good this year, hadn't applied for a Chase card since last November

nostalgia? I would move over the credit before closing, though.
Absolutely not nostalgia.
I need to call and purchase a $75 egift card from SW before closing to keep the SW $75 credit because I keep getting error messages when I try to do it online. I think it's laziness. Rolls my own eyes at my own self...
Edited to add that I did in fact roll over that credit earlier today - so I'm on my way to cancelling!

I was also looking at Mapito; we have just shy of 400k BonBlah points, but I don't think there's any way that we can get another 400k in the next few months. Maybe a good transfer offer from AmEx or Chase will roll around, then I'd consider moving points to make the trip happen.

@calypso726 I understand your fear -- those night walks back to your cabin are no joke. Biggest scare we had was in Zambia, leaving our cabin in the morning for the walk to breakfast; the cabins were round-ish, as I was coming around the side of our cabin, about 4' from me was a hippo munching the grass. I grabbed my dd (who was on her phone just behind me) and we ran for our lives back to our cabin. I called for an escort to breakfast once inside. It was broad daylight -- for a hippo to be out of the water was unusual, so it was very unexpected. People asked if I got a picture -- duh, no I didn't stop to take a pic, that split second could be the difference between life and death. Hippos are one of the most dangerous animals in Africa to people.

OMG! I would have freaked out completely. That is quite unusual! Hippos kill more people in Africa each year than any other animal.

They told us we were fine during the day to walk to breakfast or the photography studio. I did the walk the first day going to the Canon studio and back and then after dinner with security at night. That was the last time. The following day, I called for the golf cart and escort even during the day.

A few seat-selection and related questions:

1. About Southwest Basic fare--is the only real difference/drawback that a credit from a canceled flight is only good for 6 months? SW is still doing the A-B-C boarding groups, correct? So Basic fare doesn't restrict seat selection?

2. Are there any huge differences in first class on American compared to United? In the weird position that first class seats are not much higher than ecomony, and flights times are essentially the same, for both AA and United. I feel like my last very bad flying experience was on United, but rationally I believe that they all are equally capable of being very bad.

With Hawaii Airline miles going away, has anyone thought about applying for the Hawaiian Airlines Business card?

Any data points on approvals?
https://www.hawaiianairlines.com/hawaiianmiles2/credit-card-business

It doesn't look like the cards are going away. Link

I did the Hawaiian personal and biz on the same day since Barclays combines pulls. Did personal first since wanted that more. It was instant approval, then biz need verification. Was 2/6 and 4/12 inquiries. DH did the same, personal was instant, but biz was denied. He was 1/6 and 3/12 inquiries. Memory is fuzzy, but I think denial letter cited D&B biz report.

Applied for one and was not approved ….will have to see if there are other things I can find or just as Elisa said “let it go” and earn whatever points I can the old fashioned way through .actual spend
Just hate to now have to limit our trips to see the grandchildren 😥
Have you tried any of the other Serve-like cards? I also have a Bluebird account but have not used it since they added a fee for using it at Wal-Mart. I seem to recall discussion of OneDot (or maybe GreenDot) and NetSpend either here years ago or maybe a different board.

What is the best airport to reposition to for a flight to China? My daughter is looking for honeymoon flights to Shanghai next March.

So I can say this here bc it's rambling... :rolleyes1 I'm looking at all the cc's for airlines right now, and I have no loyalty ATM. I'm coming off my SWA loyalty (can't app for their cc anyway right now) with just a few thousand points to use up and then who knows? Starting to get into AA,but they have no direct flights to MCO for me,and I know I'll be wanting those in future....but I love AA in general now that I've tried it.... I have a few leftover Jetblue points from some trips a few years back, and considering the new (very good) offers I'm seeing to use for Florida flights in the future (what kind of upside down world is this where JB flights are coming up cheaper than SWA?) It's really hard to make a decision about next cc,anyone else having this problem? Prob overall AA is more valuable to me I guess....
I am also in the process of divorcing SWA. I got 2 AA cards earlier this year, and I have found the AA miles very valuable. They've already come in clutch 3 times for last minute bookings at very good rates. I often see 6K flts. That being said, I just got the United Quest because I thought that would give me more options as I leave SWA.
Chase data point: I applied for the United Quest 100k card. I got the review page followed by a call from Chase (thank God I answered) verifiying that it was me who applied for the card followed by an immediate approval of $13k. She said the card should arrive in 1-2 weeks.

I'm almost at premier gold so I thought this, combined with my upcoming flights would likely put me there. I have college tuition due, and a minimum of 4 United flights in the next few months (work related), but will pay for my husband's flights with this card.

I still need to drop my SW card. Why am I dragging my feet?
If you need the card sooner, you can expedite. I was approved over the weekend and got mine today.
