Personally, I find the note from DVC to be very positive. It does sound like they are trying to make a difference from both a health perspective as well as an environmental perspective. And while I do try to be as environmentally responsible as possible, I would rather see disposable products used than to risk getting sick while on my vacation. (Let alone getting sick, in general.)

I'm so glad they fixed this. We'll be at AKV in October and I really didn't want to sit on my balcony with a styrofoam cup of coffee. Just didn't seem right. Hopefully they'll have this fixed for my trip to SSR next year.
 
We have requested wine glasses from mousekeeping in the past (it was at BWV) and received them very promptly! I tipped the mousekeeper since it was a special request for something not normally supplied in the studios.

Thank-you! I was willing to pack plastic wine glasses, but this will be MUCH BETTER:thumbsup2
 

I got the same email. I have mixed responses to it, but in general am please and I intend to call each trip and ask for them.

I am mostly pleased with Dis and the members here and our persistence in expressing ourselves to DVC instead of just grumbling amongst ourselves.

You will only have to request them at the stand alone resorts.

Is that right?

For VB, the Inn rooms will have the glassware but in the villas you will have to ask for them. In other words, the resorts or areas within a resort where housekeeping uses those large pushcarts to service the rooms, glassware will be provided. The resort areas where housekeeping uses wicker baskets, you will have to call housekeeping and ask for glassware to be brought to your room.
 
I got the same letter today..OK..so we meet in the middle. I'll be at OKW, but I'll request mugs and glasses. At least they are listening.

I guess I'm the only one still annoyed. Not having those glasses and mugs at check-in at SSR and OKW but having to rely on requests seems like a second-class citizen status. I can see a lot of confusion in non-DIS DVCers.

Hopefully they have it all straightened out by the time we do our 9 day stay at SSR in October. I know my dad will be complaining about his lacking coffee cup until I get one for him.
 
So OKW gets screwed again? I won't be happy until they correct this for all the DVC resorts.
 
Except it doesn't mention anything about requesting glassware and ceramic mugs upon check-in at OKW/SSR. It only mentions requests for more disposables :confused3

Check the first post--the EMAIL we all received included the following which interestingly is missing from the info on the DVC website:

"The disposable cups are replenished upon request. If a Guest/Member calls to request glassware, we will provide it and remove it upon checkout."

Obviously what DVC is doing is those who complain get told the policy about requests for glassware; those that don't get the paper/styrofoam.

I think DVC needs to put all of the info on its website; not to do so is misleading.
