Please Read...regarding the possible "pruning" Please stop bumping old posts

There may be another solution to the pruning problem. Someone has pointed me to a hack that "archives" old threads so they can still be accessed. Could we please stop bumping posts for now and if this doesn't work I will give you plenty of warning?

With flame retardant suit in place, I offer the following suggestion: You probably would not have to prune so much if posts that consist of the rolled eyes, boucing and smiley faces were deleted off. The above posts are a demonstration of what I mean. IMHO why post if you aren't going to say anything.

To be honest no. As you can see it has not been utilized alot lately because people tend to ignore and pass over the stuck posts. Think about how often you look up there. I am guilty of it as well.

A single post with a few smilies takes up very little space. Especially the number of posts we are refering to here. There aren't many posts that people do that for. People bumping old posts up were doing so because of info or pictures contained in them, that we all share in.

This is a huge board, and even taking away the bump posts would not buy much time. Lets face it, with a board this size and the number of people here, things like this have to happen.

Okay, leahannpen--here's the deal. Alex was going to get rid of all the posts that hadn't been posted on for at least a year. This would have made people lose post count most likely.

Then he decided he had figured out a way to archive those old posts instead of just getting rid of them.

When people thought the posts were going to be "pruned" they started bumping up posts they didn't want to lose, mostly photo threads.

So, now we have this thread asking us not to bump up the old threads because it isn't necessary anymore to save the old threads and the moderators are trying to keep this thread bumped up to page one because most people just ignore stuck threads.
