For those of you going this week to MNSSHP, can you please post some reviews and let me know where you found characters (especially in places that are not normal "meet and greet" areas), what the costume party in Tomorrowland was like and what else you think a 3 and 4 year old will like (such as the storytelling).

We are going on the 16th and I'd like to try to have a good plan so that we don't waste time wandering around too much. Since my kids are little, I'd like to make sure we see LOTS of characters, trick or treat, see the parade and do other important things before it the fireworks at 9:15 p.m. I worry that the kids will lose steam after that and will just hang out in their strollers until we leave.

Thanks!

I am in the same situation and we are attending the party on the 13th. Any tips on cahracters would be great.

There were lots of characters in Fantasyland and on the shortcut from Space Mountain to Toontown. Donald was in front of Goofys Barnstormer. We didn't do many characters that night , but thats where I seen them. They had a cute dance party in Fantasyland. Not sure about the story telling. We were there, september 30.

Did they have the storyteller by the Liberty Bell telling the story of the Headless Horseman before the parade? This was one of our favorites last year.

I really can't answer a lot of your questions as my kids were only interested in rides and candy! But FYI, strollers were free during the MNSSHP. And it was the best fireworks show I have ever seen!
I hope you all have a great time!!!

We are planning on getting there at 4 so what is the process for getting a free stroller? Are we going to have to wait until the party officially starts or can we get one just because we have the armbands? Thanks!!!

My DH walked over and asked for a stroller and they just gave him one. It was probably 4:30. When you enter with the MNSSHP ticket, they instantly give you the wristband.

Very good to know. That is probably about the time we will enter the park.
Thanks for the updates.

We went on 9/30. We arrived at exactly 7:00 and the monorail was extremely full. They were still giving out free strollers at that time.

Almost all the kids were in costume and a large percentage of adults. It was a really fun atmosphere. The characters were scattered all around (Pooh characters by the new Pooh Playground, Brer Bear by Big Thunder Mtn, Goofy was at various candy spots, all 7 dwarfs by the Snow White ride). The lines for the characters were pretty long, so we skipped them (we went on our last day and had seen almost all the characters at that point).

I thought both parades seemed crowded. The parade was pretty good (I liked that a lot of harder to find characters were in it... Rabbit, Kanga, Horace, Clarabelle, etc.), but the song that was played over and over was annoying. I still have it in my head.

My kids were also more interested in getting candy and riding rides (almost no lines), so we didn't go to the dance parties, but they looked fun (I saw Pluto dancing in Tomorrowland and the mice from Cinderella in Fantasyland).

Have fun! We did :)

How crowded was the 2nd parade? I'm trying to figure out what time we should head over to get a good spot.

We went to the 9/30 party. Got it around 5:45pm, got the free stroller. One problem I had was that people leaving the park were herded from the right side of the park and people entering the park for MNSSHP were herded to the left. Well... as you probably know... the stroller pick-up is at the right side of the train station as you enter MK security. We had to fight with the throngs of people leaving to be able to get a stroller, then fight our way thru the throngs to get to Main St.

Inside, we went to CRT for dinner and came out around 7:45pm. We opted not to watch the 8pm parade and instead focused on getting candy. Didn't do too many rides, just did Philharmagic, Dumbo and Snow White. By the time we got to Pooh's Playful Spot (treat station), there was a big line, however the line moved quickly and there were 4 CMs who were handing out candy. The biggest line was for pictures with Eeyore and Piglet.

We then went to Mickey's Toontown which was an absolute zoo! The free face painting station was here and the line was again quite long, but the treat station line was really really long.

We opted to go to the castle courtyard to wait for the 9:15pm fireworks. We got there around 9:00pm and was able to get a seat on the curb on the right side of the castle. After the fireworks, a lot of people stayed put for the 10pm parade. At this time we saw an incident where a woman got hurt. I was really suprised at how fast Disney assembles it's paramedics. While the medics were working on this woman, they had parade control CMs all around them guiding people away from the area and onto the walkways.

The headless horseman took everyone by suprise as there was no warning that he was showing up. He just did and rode real fast. After that it took another 15 minutes or so for the actual parade to show up. I thought it was by far the best parade I'd ever seen. They had the HM grave diggers dancing with their shovels and scraping it on the concrete. They had all different rare characters.

If you stay around from the fireworks to watch the 10pm parade, just before the parade there were villains at the castle courtyard doing a villains dance and signing autographs afterwards. The Big Bad Wolf was there too.

We left after the parade because the kids were getting bushed. Just outside the exit, there were more CMs that were just giving handfuls of candies to the kids so no one should go home empty handed.

Overall I really like the party. I thought HalloWishes was an awesome fireworks show and I would love to get the music from the fireworks and the parade.
It was crowded though and I didn't like that.

If you were in the MK for the day, how do they know that it's ok for you to be there for the party?

We're going on the 13th (I believe), and my daughter is concerned about having to wear the wristbands that they use for Evening EMH. Is that how they do it?

the EMH wristbands are bright green (lime green) and have the words EXTRA MAGIC HOURS on it.

the MNSSHP wristbands are orange and have the mickey jack-o-lantern pic on it and the words Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Both are plastic.

When you enter the turnstiles, the wristbands CMs will be right there. They will put a wristband on you and another CM will hand out trick or treat bags.

We loved the party!

Yes, both parades were packed. HalloWishes was wonderful. Loved it. And the 360 fireworks. WOW! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Lots of candy. Lots of characters. The longest line I stood in was for the MNSSHP Ap and nite of the party pins. I didn't get a pic of the headless horseman either. :wizard: He just whizzed past...... :moped:

No lines, not even for HM. In fact, when we got to the stretching room, there was just one other party of 6. We had a ball.

When we passed by the Starlight diner, the dance party was going on and everybody looked like they were having a blast.

We never did get our picture. Even the place by the Dole Whips was busy when we passed by.

We would do the party again. BTW we were there Sept 30th.

Are the trick or treat bags cloth or plastic? Do you know if you have to use the ones they give you? My mom wanted to make the girls nice fabric bags and embroider their names on them.

The bags they give you are plastic.

Thanks everyone for your reviews and comments. Can't wait till the 16th so we can go!

DH & I went - 1st time - no kids. We made our own t-shirts. We got in to MK at 4:30 with no problem. As soon as we got through the ticket gate, CMs gave us our wristbands and a small, plastic t-o-t bag. (I am pretty sure you can use ANYTHING you want to get candy. Some adults had Mickey head jack-o-lantern t-o-t buckets. The candy was good! Butterfinger is one of the sponsors, so I have many "fun size" bars. I have lots of MnMs, Laffy Taffy and Cruch fun size candy. Some of the treat lines were long and DH didn't care to get any more. I saw Twix, Milky Way, Nerds, Snickers, & Sweet-tarts. I stuffed our candy bags in my small backpack. On the way out (10:30 ish) a security gaurd asked where our candy was. When I showed him my half-empty bag, he directed us to a few CMs (we were already outside the gate) next to a huge tub of more chocolate candy. (I prefer chocolate to laffy taffy.) Mickey was standing at the train st. above the big planted area facing the gate saying goodbye. We did not wait in line for ANY ride! Buzz was almost a direct walk on. Space Mtn. - almost a direct walk-on. For both it was just a few seconds to load people. I even rode things in Fantasy Land! I never do that. I forgot to do Splash Mtn. but I'm sure it was like the other rides. Even at 4:30, we walked right on to PotC.

The fireworks show was outstanding. Not to be missed. Worth every penny. Most kids were dressed up. Lots of adults too! CMs had bright orange t-shirts so if you are going to wear "Hallowween orange" be ready to see a lot of that color. We received many compliments on our homemade shirts.

Tarzan and Jane were in Adventureland by the Jungle Cruise, Terk and Baloo were also nearby. The Little Einsteins and Jojo and Goliath were alternating at the end of ToonTown by the Train Station. The Villians we saw in front of the castle on 10/2 were the Big Bad Wolf, Malficent, Snow/Evil Queen, Jafar, Cruella, Frollo, Captain Hook and 4 red headed vixen type dancers.(I don't know if they were characters from a movie or just dancers, but they were doing meet & greets). The Toontown tent area were alternating Cinderella and Aurora with their respective princes. There was a dance party at Cosmic Ray's with Chip and Dale, Pluto and Stitch dressed up as Elvis. Hope this helps a little.

Does anyone have the maps or program for the party that they have scanned in yet?
