What’s for Dinner Tonight?

Tonight we had finger sandwiches, salad, and desserts at a party my mom gave for her first cousin and his wife who are visiting from Washington state. We haven't seen them for about 10 years. It was really great to catch up. All this talk about going to the Big E made me and DH decide to go tomorrow!

I have issues I am making a list of what I want to try at the Big E tomorrow.

It is Bargain Bite Day where they have 90 bites for $3. Smaller portions means I can try more :rotfl2:

There are also some New foods Then there are my favorites. I may have pre-purchased 6 giant cream puffs and 6 giant eclairs to take home (requests from friends and family). So many choices and none will be good!
I have not been to Big E in years. The idea of fair food sounds so good. I just can’t manage that much walking. I wish they rented scooters!

Went to the Big E today (https://www.thebige.com/) which is a big fair for the Eastern States (MA, NH,VT, CT, RI, ME)... beignets... espresso cream puff with chocolate ganache.... Dell frozen lemonade.... and a lobster roll from the Maine statehouse (also brought some cream puffs home )

Tonight: steak tips with rice and steamed broccoli
Ooh

I am meeting a friend from Colorado who is out for the weekend at dinner tonight. We are going to a mutual friends restaurant. The food is fantastic and he has music on Thursday and Friday nights. Tonight is Ron Smith and G Notes. Should be lots of fun! I’ll report back with what we have.

I'm going to try to make a dish that I haven't even thought about in 15 to 20 years, until a couple days ago. It just popped into my head for some reason, so I'm going to take the walk down memory lane. It's basically shrimp, tomatoes & scrambled eggs w/ seasonings made in one skillet. I'll serve it over brown rice. I probably used Jasmine rice back then, but brown will have to do.

I went out to eat with my friend for dinner to a new to me restaurant. I had lamb ragu over homeade papperdelle pasta. It was amazing!!
I also had 2 delicious margaritas.
I’m bringing DH her next week!!

Edit to add:
I forgot I took a picture of the amazingness!
🤣🤣🤣

We had a fabulous day at the Big E. The weather was perfect and the crowds were manageable. For lunch we had jerk chicken with dirty rice from the Nola booth.

This was fantastic! Our favorite item of the day.

For dessert we had the Dumonde Beignets filled with hazelnut cream.

These were very good but not as good as Scat Cat's Cafe at POFQ.

Of course we got an eclair and the famous cream puffs (with added chocolate ganache). Unfortunately we cut them in half before the photos.

These were both very good. We preferred the eclair over the cream puff. I like the pastry cream in the eclair better than the whipped cream in the cream puff.

Lastly for dinner I got New England Clam Chowder in a bread bowl. DH got cheeseburger soup in a bread bowl. This is my chowder bowl.

We both enjoyed our soups but it was a little too much bread, not enough soup but still very good!

So glad I joined this thread and was reminded about how fun (and tasty) the Big E is!
