Another voice chiming in with much the same comments. Showing is the important thing here. Show your brother that you love him. Show your brother that you completely respect the fact that he is (may be?) gay. Show him that you respect the entire community of people who identify as gay and lesbian simply because they are HUMAN BEINGS and not some unique breed. (Well, ok. We are unique, but you know what I mean!
).
Walk with him around the parks and let him see you smile when you see same gendered couples together. Don't hesitate to strike up a conversation when you are standing online.
Telling him will be important one day too, but showing him is what it sounds like he needs most right now. And you know? Thanks for being such a great brother!
(P.S. Hootch was the name of that ugly dog in Turner and Hootch too!
