Please help with Iron on transfers

Maybe this was supposed to be on the Crafts Board? If so, I will copy it over there too. Make sure to keep an eye open for answers over there too. :)

I tried to iron on a transfer and not only did it not work the shirt fused with the cutting board(plastic) i was using. How do you do these things. I thought I was crafty :( . My ironing board hangs from the door so it really has no support that is why I used the cutting board(thank goodness it wasn't my mickey one). What is the trick?

You need to use a hard surface. Just put a pillow case on the kitchen counter or a table anywhere it's flat and won't burn.

Press down hard on the iron, 2 things that make iron-ons work are pressure and heat.

Another option is to try to find someplace that has a heat press and pay a small fee for them to do it for you.

I always use the kitchen table which seems to work great and no steam coming from the iron.
