Hi! I took a bunch of pictures at Animal Kingdom last month, and now am trying to figure out how to scrapbook them. The biggest problem is that they are mostly of animals, and I can only figure out what a few of them are! My SIL helped me with some (she volunteers at the zoo), but many of them she was way too vague for my liking ("that's some sort of monkey..."). Any ideas? THANKS!

I'm using some cute animal die cuts, animal print lettering, and animal print bordered speech balloons....that's all I know so far, haven't gotten that far!

Me and my big ideas has a really cute safari sticker sheet that I used for the safari- I put the lion sticker next to the lion picture etc--

I divided my DAK 1/2 book into the different "lands" and used land elements for each "land"- ie Asia had "fake jewels" and shiny paper etc- dinosaur had dino bone paper- etc- it makes it easier to do it like that then find enough animal prints etc to do one theme for the whole book--

I have a LOT of pages from AK -
but my favorite is the one where I cut the cardstock like 'grass' at the bottom of the page with sky blue cardstock behind it and chalked clouds at the top then cropped and matted all the photos.

it is rather simple so there are a lot of pics on the page!

If they are small pictures you can creat a "slide" of film and paste the pictures in the squares. I did this and it came out real cute.

Hi Tigger welcome to the boards! I see you are from Fairfax. I'm from FX County too. Just stuck here in Mont. County for one more year. Their are a lot of us from around the metro area.

I can't help with that problem but I'm going to have the same issues. I took a lot of pictures on the safari and have no idea what kind of animals they are. Maybe if you go to a Disney web site and click on a ride or attraction name they may list some of the animals???

One of my LSS had some giraffe & elephant 12" x 12" papers that I used for my photos from the San Diego Wild Animal Park. I bought a few extra sheets for when I get around to scrapping DAK photos.

When I did our last couple of trips I kept the AK pages fairly simple.

For instance I grouped animals by types such as big cats. Then I used some paper that had a coordinated animal print - leopard, tiger, giraffe, etc. but didn't "paper" the whole page. Rather a I cut a wide strip, mounted it sort of diagonally (but not a perfect corner to corner diagonal if that makes sense), and then matted the photos with a plain color that worked with the accent paper and colors of the animals - lots of black!

I didn't worry about too much naming of the animals. That wasn't my purpose for those.

Good luck!
Deb

P.S. Hi all! I've missed you and am finally "back". It has been a hectic fall but today at least I had time to do some board surfing. Classes are cancelled but faculty had to show up. So have to fill the time somehow! Can't think of a better way! :sunny:

I agree; I wouldn't worry about proper names of the animals. Just make beautiful pages to remind you of your experience. I was able to find lots of animal print paper for backgrounds and matting and I think my AK pages are some of my favorites.
One suggestion: you may need to have your photos enlarged so that you can really get a good sized image of each animal. Then crop as needed.
