I have a reservation for a week in September for the AKL for 2 adults. Due to cost I only booked a standard room. I need any input I can get as to what would be the best request to put in for a standard room.....I have never been to AKL before. I would love to have a balcony but would hate to be by the bus stop or looking at a parking lot...PLEASE HELP

Also, is there anywhere I can fiind a map of the standard rooms for AKL??? And if you had the opportunity to book a Savannah view is it REALLY worth the extra money????

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!! :Pinkbounc

We just got back from AKL two weeks ago. We had 3 standard view rooms. At first we were on the fifth floor and had no balconies. Just little cut outs from the roof. We asked to be moved and they very graciously moved us to the third floor Ostrich Trail. These rooms faced the handicap parking area but weren't far enough down to be directly over it. There was alot of foliage and trees so we didn't see any cars. The rooms were beautiful and very quiet. They were 3123, 3125, 3127. 25 and 27 connected. This trail is on the opposite side of Giraffe Trail where the bus stop is. AKL is absolutely the best hotel we have ever stayed at and this is the first time we ever had standard view rooms.

AKL is a beautiful resort! If you can not swing the savannah view financially, I wouldn't worry. Everything about the resort is nice and there are plenty of public areas you can use to view the animals. And being that it will be Sept when you are there, when you check in ask nicely if there are any upgrades available. Sept is usually a slow month for Disney and you might get lucky. Heres wishing you pixie dust!!:D

We will be staying at the AKL for the 1st time June 10-15th. We also have a standard view, & I thought all of the rooms had balconies. I guess I'll call and make sure I request one. We usually aren't in the rooms long enough to worry about the view, but in the evening it's nice to sit out on the balcony after the kids go to bed just to unwind.

The bellman told me when he came to move our rooms that only those few rooms on the fifth floor have those enclosed ones. They aren't like the ones at WL. These don't even have chairs on them. You cannot see anything but the sky unless you lean out over the thatched roof. They get very little air too. When my DH went to the front desk to see if we could change rooms the CM at check in didn't even know they had rooms that didn't have open balconies. The room controller said he totally understood and moved us the next morning with no problem.
