Please help-What's wrong with my Toy Story 3 Bluray?

So I bought the TS3 Bluray today from TRU. Dh tried to watch it with the kids, but there was something wrong with the volume. Everything was normal during the previews and on the menu screen. However when the movie starts the volume gets super loud and everything gets scratchy and noisy. You can't really make out what anyone is saying.

I thought it was just defective and exchanged it for a new one. Well I just got home and it does the exact same thing. Does anyone know if I'm doing something wrong? We put in a copy of the Toy Story 2 Blu-ray we have and everything was fine. Thanks!

I've never experienced this particular problem before but I know I had to update my software for The Princess and the Frog on bluray to even play--the day I bought the player! If you don't have a router (in which case it should have already updated, but do a manual update anyway), you can download the software onto a cd and load that cd directly into the player, which will pull the update off of the cd. If that doesn't help, try switching the sound settings in your setup menu (i.e. 5.1 ch dolby ss, or 7.1 channel) just to see if it comes through better. It's hard to believe that 2 dvds would be defective...

I was also going to suggest an update to your Blu Ray player. We bought a Blu Ray several months ago that would not play at all in our player. We had the latest software update and it still would not play. We called the manufacturer and they said they would have to mail us a disc with a new update on it. Got the disc and it was the exact same update we had already downloaded.
Each manufacturer of Blu Ray players has to keep their machines updated with new software constantly to keep up with new movie releases. This can be due to changing technologies and protection from copying put onto that disc.
In the end, we are still not able to watch the movie we bought directly on our DVD player. We had to use the digital copy and put it on our Apple TV to be able to view it. We were told by the DVD player manufacturer that they would make sure to work on a software update for that particular movie, but as far as I know they have not released any new updates since then.

Thanks for the suggestions! We're going to try that, because I didn't think 2 DVDs could be defective either. It was just so weird that all the previews are fine and it's only when you start the movie.

There is the same problem with LG Bluray players and Ice Age 3. Part of the problem there is that the movie has a 7.1 surround track instead of just 5.1 and we have to turn off an audio setting in the menu first and then it will play the sound correctly.

But certainly try the upgrade to the firmware first. Blurays are like computers and need to have software updated regularly, they are much more dynamic than DVDs.

You should also check over at www.blu-ray.com in the fourms to see if anyone else has the same problem.

Your Blu-ray player manufacturer's website or Blu.ray.com should be able to help you identify whether or not your machine requires a firmware upgrade.

Also, for Sony owners, if you cannot connect your player directly to the internet, you can order a free CD with the latest software upgrade.

We are having the same problem with our TS3 Blue Ray on our LG player. My hubby is trying all the above suggesstions now. Changing from 7.1 to 5.1 didn't help, but trying the other suggestins now. If anybody has any other ideas please let us know.

We called LG and they walked us throug the troubleshooting. We had to turn the HD AUDIO Effect OFF in the Bluray setup menu.

The sound works, but about 6 times during the movie, the sound went quiet for a split second. Of course my DH says it is no big deal, but it bothers me. Any body have this problem?

I'm having a very odd problem with Toy Story 3 playing through a PS3.

I selected 5.1 sound, but everything is coming through my front and center speakers. I went to audio setup on the disc, and it confirmed - all rear sounds are coming out of the front speakers. It doesn't recognize the subwoofer, either.

I run all the setup tools on my receiver and get no change.

So I put the TS3 DVD in the player (always wondered why the sold them together) and go to the audio setup - everything works fine. Surround channels and subwoofer work as expected.

All of my other blu-ray have worked fine, too.

Anybody have a clue?
