Please help-re codes that are coming out end of October for Jan 09

Last year we book a room on 11/1/2008 for a trip from Jan 1-Jan 8. For 2 adults, one 5 year old and one 2 year old, we got 7 nights in AKL with basic dining, free park hopper and water park upgrade and 15% off room with our code for $2746.

I am now realizing just how cheap that was!!! We just tried to book a room for 7 nights at CSR (no coupon yet) with no park hopper and water park option (those were free with the discount code last year) and with basic dining (remember this is without any code) and the price is $2,985!!! wowzers.

Differences are this year our 2 year old is now 3 and so on the dining plan, so there's that. But my DH refuses to book this given how little we paid last year for AKL.

He wants to wait and see if a code comes out again in November. But the thing is, we've already bought our plane tickets and I am so nervous about waiting until the codes come out to book!!!

Does anyone remember if the Jan code last year was for Luxury resorts only? can you upgrade from a value to a Moderate if the code DOES end up applying to moderates (and there are rooms available,of course)? I want to book a Value room NOW just so I can feel sure we've got something, and then when the code comes out (assuming it does) move rooms and apply the code...

What would you do???

THis trip also has a ticket for the little one.

You can wait and see for discounts. Jan is a slow time or you could book and apply the discount when it comes.

ah yes....you mean the MYW ticket for my youngest? of course, that would make a difference, right? how much would that account for of our total price? do you think we could safely wait til 11/1 and get our tickets then once we know that the coupons are coming out? (if they don't, we'll stay at AS-Movies, but man, we do love Boma!!!!)

and did the codes apply to mods and values? If i remembe correctly, they did, but the discount was the greatest for the Luxury resorts.

Can one upgrade to a different resort once you've booked? (we're doing this through dreams unlimited travel). thanks!

You can always book now to make sure you get your room and then call back with the code when you get it. They will change your reservation for the code.

Well I haven't had luck getting what I was looking for so if it was me I'd book something since you have your air already and then when the codes come out you can get what you really want. We've been going back and forth about CR and had a reservation at WL. Well I waited too long and now nothing I want is available (or can afford 1 bdm suite is out of my price range ). We were able to get a room at GF and I'm glad since its on the monorail but it was a bit more than we were hoping to spend even with AAA discount. I'm hoping for a code to cut my cost down but its still manageable either way. For some reason, alot of people are having problems getting what they want for January. We picked January because its suppose to be a slow time however the way the resorts are booking up I'm not sure how slow its actually going to be Good luck!

You can always book now to make sure you get your room and then call back with the code when you get it. They will change your reservation for the code.

Do you know if those codes were just GP or if the Disney Visa got a code before GP did? I'm curious becuase I have a Disney Visa and I'm hoping for a code from them so my TA can apply it before the mad rush on 11/1. She doesn't get in until 9 am so by then who knows what I'll end up with

For some reason Disney Visa didn't offer a discount for our October trip. The GP code is all that was offered and it doesn't apply to the ASMo preferred rooms. If we wanted to take advantage of the discount, we would have to move to ASSp - standard room and it's not worth it for us. My DGDs (12 & 10) love the Movies and the poolside, so we did not go for the discount. I'm still hoping that Disney Visa will come through with a code before we leave. I had to pay our balance the other day, but they said they would credit the account if we can connect with a code.

the discount for last january was applicable at all levels of resorts, pending availability of course. since you have air, i would book the resort so you know you have something. as long as you don't take the insurance the deposit will be fully refundable.
