We just checked in for 9 nights at the Poly. We love the new theming but the thermostat in the room will not allow the temp below 68 degrees. We like in cold when we sleep. Anyone know of a way to get the thermostat to get the room cooler. Thanks.

We had the same problem at OKW. Had to call maintenance to override it so it could be set lower.

Google it. Look for hotel air conditioning override . It will usually let you go to 65 . I haven’t seen polys new one but I used to override the old one, I did override CR and Wl this year easy,

or call maintenance they will do for you, may take time.

I had the same problem in my studio at Old Key West, and eventually called the front desk. I'm not sure why, but 68 felt more like 73.

Just call maintenance , they will come and override it for you. We had this problem at the GF a few years ago and the maintenance guy pushed some buttons and we were nice and cool.

My husband figured out how to override the system via YouTube videos and got it down to 67. I still made him call maintenance. When maintenance asked how the thermo was already overrode, we were all, "I don't know, can you make it go lower?". They said whoever overrode it already took it down as far as it goes, 67 is it. I called maintenance the next day and made them come back. Same answer. 67 is as low at goes there but it sure doesn't feel like 67 with the humidity. I think it just displays 67 in an effort to try to trick people in to believing it.

Maybe this will help. Several years I substituted(teacher) for a special Ed class and the room was too cold (winter). The kids wrapped the thermostat in wet paper towels. The heat came on by the end of the class they were complaining of the heat. Maybe if you wrap a hot towel it will turn the AC lower. Perhaps the hair dryer would work. I’ve always wondered if this would work.

Because in hotels, the thermostats "fudge" the actual temperature on the display. They can be calibrated to do that. It's supposed to be a psychological trick.
Hey Disney! If it’s all psychological, why are my pajamas soaked through with sweat?

Seriously though, I started traveling with a fan when they went to the programmable thermostats. I would override it, turn on my fan, and so long as I didn’t use any covers, I would almost be ok. I put it down to about 65 at home and it’s a real 65. At most hotels I can put it down to 62 at night and I do (I raise it to 70 during the day). At least then I can use a sheet to cover up and not wake up soaked in sweat.

If Disney actually does this (and I bet they do) that is sorry. Screwing the guest over just to save a buck. Makes me very
un-symphathetic when guest skirt the rules with Disney to save a buck.

Everyone here would hate staying with me. I'm always turning the system off because I'm too cold. I like the lack of Mousekeeping because they don't turn it back on! :rotfl2:
My family is ALWAYS cold in Disney hotels. Drives us crazy. If I want to be cold, I can stay in the Frigid Midwest where I live. Can't stand to go to FL and freeze in the rooms. I want to be able to adjust heat (and others to adjust the cold) myself, not be subject to the hotel's decision on the matter.

On page 28 of the "Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions" thread, there is a post w/video on how to override the default temp. (Note: Moderator still waiting to hear if this technique works)

We’re the same way, always raising the temp on the thermostats when we are in WDW, even in August (and turning the air off and opening the balcony doors when in the room). I feel that if you don’t acclimate, that’s when The heat and humidity will crush someone. I mean …it’s August …in Florida!
