My family is going to be staying at OKW the first week of January, and my parents decided this morning that they wanted to come along too, and stay at FW in their motor home. I didn't realize it would be a problem, since I've been assured by tons of people that the first two weeks of January are super slow. But evidently January at FW is super-busy! Even if DH and I changed our reservations at OKW, there wasn't a single week in January that FW had availability for a motor home.

I'll be six months pregnant in January and would prefer not to go to the parks much later than that, so we're somewhat limited on when we can go. Are there any other campgrounds near WDW? My parents love FW, but I think they would settle for something else if it was their only way to go with us.

Unfortunately FW is almost always full (and Jan outside of Marathon week is a real slow time at the parks) and unless you start making ressies at the 500 day mark you can run into problems. For Oct/Nov 2010 we missed the window and almost 400+ days we now still only have partial ressies and the two partials are in different level loops (preferred and preminum) and we prefer just plain old full hookup 1600-1900. Hopefully Rhonda will get all this sorted out to our satisfaction by the time that trip happens.

FW is just not friendly for unplanned stays.

I would suggest keep calling and try to get into the Fort. Sometimes the closer you are people cancel. Also I have heard that sometimes if you make your reservation longer you might get in then cancel the day's you don't need. Theres a campground called Turkey Lake it's not the Fort but it might do. Good Luck I hope it works out for you and your parents get into the Fort.

I couldn't believe it when we made reservations for this November in September, I assume we must have picked up some canceled reservations, so don't give up all hope.

However, if you have no luck there is a place called Tropical Palms RV resort which is located just outside the main entrance into the World. We've stayed there the last two years (this is our first year at the FT. YAY!) and it's fine. It's not fancy but it has a nice pool and the location is great. They have a website but you should call to make your reservation to get the best rates, they're very friendly and helpful.

Good luck.

You also may want to call for reservations, and ask the CM if a portion of those days is at least available. Sometimes when you search for a stay, if just one day of your search period is unavailable it will kick back your request at "full". A much easier way to do this would be to contact Rhonda at Dreams Unlimited Travel. They are linked at the top of this page as I think they are a major sponsor of these boards. A lot of folks on the boards work with Rhonda for their trips. I have just actually discovered Rhonda's services for myself, and she has found a week for me during this upcoming March that I couldn't find online, simply because the first day of my search period was unavailable. We are booking the remaining days, and Rhonda will continue to try to add that last day.
