1 Table-Service meal including entrée, dessert or full buffet, non-alcoholic beverage. Gratuity NOT included
1 Counter Service meal including entrée, dessert (lunch/dinner) and single serving non-alcoholic beverage or 1 complete combo meal, dessert (lunch dinner), 1 juice with breakfast and single serving non-alcoholic beverage
1 Snack choice of a frozen ice cream novelty or fruit bar, or single serve popcorn or single piece of whole fruit or single serve Grab Bag of Frito Lay's Chips, or 20 oz. bottle of Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite or 24 oz. bottle of Dasani water or medium size fountain drink or apple juice

So if I order from one of the places that only has sandwiches and chips for lunch but no combos then I only get a sandwich with the plan and the chips would be a snack.
To get a side at a counter service then I have to get a combo?

Sides are not included in CS meals unless they are part of a combo meal. If the chips are included with the sandwich entree, the chips are covered (i.e. the listed price covers both sandwich and chips, and/or the menu states that the entree consists of sandwich and chips). If they are listed on the menu and paid for separately from the sandwich, they are not.

In order to get a side covered with a non-combo meal, you can use a snack credit for the side if the restaurant will accept a snack credit for the side you want.

Every counter service place we went to had the chips coming with the sandwich & a drink and you got to pick one from at least 2 desserts...that was for one counter service credit. (no snack credit needed for the chips.) An example of this situation is Starring Rolls in DHS and Earl of Sandwich in DTD. Both places, you got a sandwich & a bag of chips, along with a dessert & a fountain drink.
All the burger places we went to had a combo that was the burger with fries or chips.

At the counter places, if you have any questions, just ask the counter people what comes with the sandwich on the regular dining plan...they will tell you. The only time you won't get a "side" is if the item you order is like a "complete" meal...like a chicken chef salad. You still get a dessert & a drink though.

MMM... When we went to Earl of Sandwich, we only got a sandwhich, dessert and drink (can't be gatorade) and no chips. I would love to have had chips...

There were very few CS meals we had that did not include some sort of side dish. In fact, I think the only ones that did not was my Mediterranean chicken flatbread at Pop Century, which was HUGE and had tons of veggies on it, PLUS I got the drink and dessert; and the chicken salad at Pizza Planet.

Here are the CS places we ate and examples:

1. MK: Cosmic Ray's (burgers came with fries)
2. AK: Flame Tree BBQ (I believe the sandwich came with beans, the ribs came with beans and cornbread)
3. Epcot: Tangierine Cafe in Morocco (shawarma platter with hummus and tabouli, bread)
4. DHS: Pizza Planet (pizza combo meal came with garden salad; I just had the chicken salad with lots of different things in it, so it came with no sides)
5. Pop Century food court: chicken flatbread without sides; DH got philly cheesesteak wrap which came with fries

So go, eat and enjoy!!! I was so confused about what counted on the dining plan but the CMs are so helpful, everyone was really nice and very patient. I am sure they get these types of questions all the time. In fact, one lady at the Pop Century food court actuallt seemed excited that I asked what I could get as a dessert! She seemed very happy to tell me that the Haagen Dazs ice cream bar was available as a dessert! And DH was even happier! ;)

Bummer...maybe we were just lucky when we got the bags of chips (which were small bags) But you know sometimes I think it's the cashier or counter person making the decisions, and not any set-in-stone rules...I know at one meal, my DD asked if she could get a small fruit bowl as her side instead of the fries listed on the combo...the counter person said yes, but the cashier charged her a snack for it.

We just booked our vacation a month ago and I booked CS meals quick service..Im new to all this how do we? how do they keep track of what has already been used? is it a credit card type thing? tickets? what?

Your meal credits will be encoded on your room key, and you will use your key to pay for meals. Your receipt will indicate how many meal credits you have left. One room key can be used to pay for your entire family's meals.

We didn't get chips at Earl of sandwich either, just sandwich, dessert, and drink(very limited choices of bottled drinks).
