can someone help me understand how the renting of dcv points work i am going to wdw dec 27 thru jan 1 i am not real picky on which resort or room type it will be for 2 maybe 3 adults (not sure if grandpa is comming yet) and 1 child i dont know how many points i need any help would be greatly appreciated

I would first go up to the DVC points at the top of thi spage. It will give you an idea of how many points it takes for each resort. Then I would head over to the rent area and see what points are going for. This will help you decide how much you may want to spend.

you put all of your trust in a DVC member advertising points for rent, send them a money order or paypal for the nights. You can find rental points on the rental board along wiht a FAQ at the top of that board.

Chances of you being able to rent for those days, this year, are practically NIL. Most if not all rooms will be gone already and not available to stay in.

as already stated, for renting in december, you really need to start looking for an owner a year in advance.

I think you'll be OK for May, especially since you haven't got to the 7 month window yet. At this point, the only people who can reserve BCV are people who own there, so you're not competing with the owners of all the other resorts.

The OP was asking about December, and particularly the week between Xmas and New Year's. December overall is an extremely popular time for DVC members, and that particular week was probably booked solid by the beginning of February. May is not nearly that popular with DVCers.
