For whatever reason, I can't seem to get a handle on this!:confused3 I have read many threads about this, but I think I need to be able to apply it to my situation.
DH and I are interpreting banking differently...

AKV 180pts UY Sept.

If I use 114 before Feb 28th (100% deadline) and hold onto the remaining 66 until the next deadline of May 31, how many am I eligible to bank? Is it 50% of what is left...so 33? Or is it up to 90, in which case I would still be able to book all 66 that I have available?

Is it also true that once I bank them for 2007, I can't use them until after the start of my 2008 UY? Does that mean I can't even call to make a ressie using them until after sept 2008 (the next UY)? Or can I make the ressie as long as it is for stays after sept 2008?

I'm so confused!!!!!!!!!!!:headache:

The totals allowed are cumulative, 100% at 6 months, 50% at 9 and 25% at 10. If you bank half by the six month deadline and still have half left over, you can bank no more at the later deadlines, i.e., that 50% at the 9th month deadline means if you have banked none by that time or less than 50% of your total alloted points for the year, you can bring total banked for the year up to 50%; however, if you have already banked 50% you can bank no more at the 9th month. (Same analysis applies at the 25% level for the 10th month.) Thus, in your example, if you use 114, you can still bank 66 at the 9 month deadline because it is less than 50% of your total alloted points for the year and you will have not banked before then. Banked points stay banked and those sent to 2008 use year can be used only for a trip during your 2008 use year but you can still make reservations 11 months out for any time during that 2008 use year (or 7 at non-home resort), i.e., you can always reserve 11 (or 7) months out and thus, for example, you can call to reserve a Sep 2008 trip in October 2007, banking does not change that.

You can bank up to 100% of the points you own at any time during the first 6 months of your UY. During months 7, 8 and 9, you can bank up to 50% of your total points, including any points banked earlier in your Use Year. During the 10th month, you can bank up to 25% of your points, including any points banked earlier in your UY.

You own 180 points with a Sep UY. Between Sep 1 and the end of Feb, you can bank up to 180 points. Between Mar 1 and May 31, you can bank up to 90 points, including any points banked earlier. Between Jun 1 and Jun 30, you can bank up to 45 points including any points banked earlier.

So if you will be using 114 points for trips and you want to bank the remaining 66 points, you can do that any time between Sep 1 and May 31 (your 50% banking deadline). If you missed that deadline, you would only be able to bank 45 points provided you did so by Jun 30th.

Another example: Let's say you banked 100 points prior to Feb 28th. During May you cancel a couple of days from a trip you had planned for later in your UY and 24 points are returned to your account. You are in your 50% banking window but you cannot bank those points because you have already banked 100 points earlier in your UY, so you already exceeded your 50% banking limit.

Also just be aware that MS is closed on Sundays so if the last day of a banking window falls on a Sunday or a holiday, you must bank the points by MS's last business day of that month.

Is it also true that once I bank them for 2007, I can't use them until after the start of my 2008 UY? Does that mean I can't even call to make a ressie using them until after sept 2008 (the next UY)? Or can I make the ressie as long as it is for stays after sept 2008?
Banking is a final transaction. Banking your 2007 points moves them into your 2008 UY where they can only be used for stays between Sep 1, 2008 and Aug 31, 2009. You can book a stay using those points 11 months prior to your check-out date at your home resort or 7 months prior to check-out at other resorts.
