Please Help Me! Might Have To Change Trip

I am so confused...We might have to cancel our December trip... I will know by mid-July... Of course my flight is already booked... We will have to travel before June or we will lose our flight funds and to avoid problems with our points...

We would have no problem going the week of Presidents Week starting on Friday, Feb 13th...Which means I will have to book after the 7-month window begins...We like to stay in a 2-bedroom because of the kids...

Do we have a shot at getting anything for that week if we are booking at 7-months? Should I be prepared to stay at one of the other non-DVC resorts? Can I book a non-DVC resort if there is nothing available at a DVC and go on a waitlist for a DVC resort? We really do not want to stay at a non-DVC resort but I am really not sure what kind of chance we have at getting a DVC room...

Our other option would be Memorial Day weekend (extended) in May...This gives me more time to book...I can call for my home resort before it opens to other members at 7-months....Down side of this would be less time for our trip...

Some one advice me please....I need to be prepared if we do in fact need to put off the trip that we were so looking forward to

well with your home resort you can already book both Feb and May time periods already so you can check and see if you can cancel your Dec trip then book a room for either of those weeks.
I think we are at the 7mth window for Feb already anyway or at least very shortly.

July 13th begins the 7-month window that I can book for my new trip...I am hoping I won't need to...

Call me an optimist - I think you will get something for either time. I don't think SSR fills up that fast and there may still be options at the other DVC resorts as well (but those are less likely).

Don't be afraid to waitlist if you have to and don't panic and reserve a non-DVC WDW resort until there is absolutely no alternative. Once you go outside the DVC resorts, you're committed to the non-DVC option, even if space becomes available in a DVC resort.

I don't think you should have a problem. We just booked yesterday for a trip the week after your choice in Feb. and we got a studio at the Boardwalk....with a Boardwalk view!

IF we have to cancel DH wants to go in July...Which means it will be really hot and I will have to pay the $50 to extend my travel funds...He does not want to go in Feb. because the kids want to go to the water parks and he thinks it will be a bit less crowded...

I think the water parks will be packed in July!

I really don't know about President's week, I do know you'll be running into the crowds from the NE and you are getting into Speedweeks time at Daytona. People do stay over in Orlando and drive to the track in Daytona.
