Please Help Me Decide......Summer Discount Dilemma

I had booked Port Orleans French Quarter months ago for our family of 7 adults and 3 kids. Disney is now running a summer sale. If we stay at POFQ
our price dropped 5% for a savings of $350.

If we want to save more we would have to switch to POR. (20% discount)
"Preferred" rooms (near Alligator or Bayou) would save us an additional $375

Regular room locations at POR would add still another $300 in savings.

Had read such great reviews on POFQ is it worth the extra $375-$675?????
I know POFQ room were updated......what about the rooms at POR?

Really would appreciate your expert help!!!!!

I think POR rooms were all renovated last year.
For the savings (as much as I love POFQ) I would switch to a POR preferred room.

How much time will be spent at the resort, and/or in the room?
If you have that much of a preference and you will be spending a lot of time in the resort and rooms, then stick with POFQ- you're still saving some $$!
If not a preference, then switch. The additional savings can apply to other treats during your vaca.

We made the switch from POFQ to POR with the Spring discount. POR rooms were refurbed right after POFQ so there are also queen beds there as well.

Remember that they are sister resorts so you are still welcome to use the amenities at both.

The thing that I liked about POFQ is that there isnt alot of walking since the resort is so much smaller than the other mods.

That said, we liked POR much better. The grounds are so beautiful. And with a greater savings there it would be an easy decision for me.

I would switch for the money. We are traveling in June and were lucky to find a 20% off sale through Orbitz (ended in June) at POFQ...just called to compare prices with the new summer promo. and the price I paid is far less for POFQ and the same for POR. We really wanted POFQ, due to its small size and we have small children in our group, so are staying put. But, if the deal was much better for POR I would have moved.

I'd switch. But I'm biased, I love POR. I like POFQ but I prefer POR.

I'd save the money, the resort are connected you can walk to either one if you like,use either pool.... and that's a huge chunk to save. My personal fave is POFQ but I'd switch in a heartbeat BTW alligator bayou is not as pretty as other areas,if you aren't looking for 'rustic cabin-cheap backwoods motel' themed feel, go fro the regular rooms.
( I camp in other places, not looking for that in WDW)
we stayed POFQ last trip, one morning I walked all around both resorts.... if youy don't mind a beautiful walk, POR is great!

I think POR is much prettier & more peaceful than POFQ.
However, I love the mansion area, not the bayou area & would request the mansions instead of a perferred room.
I've never felt it is that far a walk from the mansions. It is so pretty & a stroll there is a great way to start or end the day.

I have stayed at both and I prefer POFQ because of its size but if you get the preferred room at POR, then I would switch. I think the atmosphere is better also at POFQ but I would rather have the money. You'll be happy either way.

Preferred room at POR in a heartbeat! Request building 14! We love both resorts but kids were so much happier with the main pool at POR You can't lose either way!

Do you by any chance have AAA? If so, that could be applied to POFQ and the savings is better than Disney's summer discount. It will still be slightly more than POR but the gap would be smaller if you really wanted to stay at POFQ, that's what we decided for our summer trip.

We will be staying at POR at the end of June. I booked in January with my AAA agent and emailed her this week when I saw the summer promotion ads. She had the promotion discount added and it saved us an additional $100. Just remember that the promotion is only for the room portion of your stay. Also, we're staying just four nights. The promotion gets you 20% off of your room at POR.

Since POFQ only gets about a 5% discount with the summer promo, AAA discount is cheaper. POR receives the 20% with the summer promo so in that case, the summer promo is the better deal.
