Please Help Me Choose a Wedding Dress UPDATE pg. 9: It's been chosen!

#2.

By a long shot to me. congrats!!

:thumbsup2
I thought you looked lovely in #2, very flattering and very feminine.

Whichever you choose/chose, you are sure to be a lovely bride. Congrats to you both! :wizard:
(I do like #1 but Not the color (it seems less formal in gold, more promish/black tie'ish)
#2 is my favorite!

I like #1 (without the straps) and #5 the best. :goodvibes If it were me, I'd probably wind up picking #5 more for practicality reasons - it looks like it's a lot easier to move around in, which would be nice for the reception, and I like the white a little more versus the gold. But really, both of them are beautiful. :lovestruc

Ditto this...but leaning towards #5 for sure. It is a very flattering fit.

Without reading any other posts, here's what I think.

Rule number 1: Call the church and ask whether the parish requires sleeves or a cover up over strapless dresses, a lot of them do.

Now as to the dress I pick number 2. While number 1 is gorgeous it emphasizes your shoulders way too much. Number 2 really evens out our upper body nicely.

I had the same problem when i was dress shopping 7 yrs ago. And no strapless dress in the world would look good on me.

Thanks dad for your football shoulders:rotfl:

I don't like any of them except for one and two.

The first one is gorgeous but I agree with others that the straps are funny, number two is GORGEOUS.

I like number 2 the best. My second choice would bethe lace dress but not with the sash. I think it looks prettier by itself. :thumbsup2

I pick number 1, but I would have them remove the straps. It just SUITS you and your figure so very well.

And I love the back, too.

ETA: In WHITE. I didn't realize it was gold and thought that was just the camera acting wonky.

I think #2 is too plain since you are a Ren gal.

I think the first dress is the nicest of all of them.

I like the fifth dress as a close second, though that looks like the prom dress my Mom wore in 1962 and I wore in 1984 (we wore the same dress).

You are going to be a beautiful bride!

Its so funny to read all the different opinions, we all see something so different in the dresses. OP, I hope you aren't more torn after reading these replies, go with your gut no matter what anyone else says. A bride knows her dress when she tries it on, it sounds like you know it was #1. You are going to make a beautiful bride in any of them but you should wear the one you love not the one we think is right for you.

For your body-frame I'd go with #5 -- the last picture. It looks lovely on you and doesn't overpower you. I love dress #1, but you look like you are drowning in it. There's way too much fabric for your petite size.

The one with the lace and the one with the high neckline are definite nos.

A couple of posters said they like #6, but I only count 5 dresses total.

I vote for the last one! It is elegant on you.

#6 is the link to David's Bridal....there is a gown with cap sleeves.

i love dress number two, and the one that has the purple sash like thing.. it never hurts to add a little color to the dress ;) it is in style now to do that ..but also the one with the sash really looks better on you! ;)

I think #3, without a sash, is the most flattering on you. It really shows off your figure and I like the color on you.

You said you are getting married during Christmas season and, to me, this would be the perfect dress. It looks like snowflakes.

Have you ever watched Say Yes to the Dress? I'm addicted to it. There was a show where the bride was getting married at Christmas to a soldier, and she wore a lovely dress with a short faux fur jacket. It really was very beautiful.

Ultimately, you should pick what YOU like and feel good in. What you think and feel is what counts.

Best wishes on your upcoming wedding.

I think 1, 2 and 3 are the prettiest (leave the sash off tho'). I think you look happiest in dress 1.

I may not be built exactly like you, but I am similar enough that I believe I can give a helpful assessment. I'm short and "gifted" up top and know what it's like to have things not fit correctly. Please don't take anything I say as negative, because I'm talking about my own body too. :lmao:
You've got to downplay the not-so-positives and play up your assets. ;)

1. Something about those straps just ruins the look. To me, there is just too much "stuff" going on. It's distracting. When I was getting married, I had a vision of the dress I wanted. Dear lord, I tried on a few dresses like my vision and I looked like Dolly Parton in a Barbie dress on steroids. :rotfl2: It was just tooooooo much froof for a short well-endowed girl. I went for simpler lines and "lost" about 25 pounds in the process. I'm not saying #1 is a horrible dress, but it's not the best for you of those choices.

2. Of all the dresses, assuming you can get the proper size, this is the one I'd go with. It is very flattering. It makes you look "narrower" and thus taller. It has lovely details, but less froof and that means you call attention to yourself and not the dress. You don't want the dress to be the center of attention....YOU should be the center of attention. People should say how lovely you look in the dress, not what a pretty dress it is.....And there is a difference. #2 does all that. It's a great look for you.

3. If you go for this, I beg you, do not wear a sash. If you do, it will cut you in two visually. It will ruin the lines of the dress and make you look shorter and wider when there is NO need to. It's much more flattering without the sash. Plus, sashes are trendy and later you will look back and wonder why you even wore it. This dress is okay to me. Not great, not bad......Simple, but pretty. Looks more like a wedding dress than #4 or #5, but less like one than #1 or #2.

4. Again, if you get this one, lose the sash for the same reasons. But of all the dresses shown, this is the least flattering. The high neck just is not good for you. It seriously emphasizes your.....chest. :) Looks like a prom dress.

5. Also looks like a prom dress. Something about the big flower bugs me, but that's just a personal issue. If you took it off, the dress would look funny. The top is flattering on you, but the bottom is meh. Compared to #2, I just can't put them in the same league.

6. Since I can't see this on you, it's harder to say, but I'll imagine it on me. With my arms and ample upstairs, cap sleeves are not often a good look. A lot of times, they give the impression the outfit is simply too small and that's not even the case. Unless this looks great on you in person, I'd skip it.

To summarize, I think #2 makes you look far and away better than any of the other dresses. It's a closeup pic, so you ought to look BIGGER to me, but you look smaller. :confused3 Your waist looks tinier and it plays up your curves. I know you love #1 and if your heart is set on it, then get it. But #1 and its ruched bodice aren't as good a look for your top half as #2's classic lines.

At any rate, have a wonderful wedding! :thumbsup2

and when you decide on your dress can the ones that picked it come to the Wedding :) can't wait to see your wedding pictures...are we going to vote on a veil/head piece ? Such a happy thread ....such a lovely change!

Okay, I said I wasn't going to bother with opinions (just "go with number 1! :teeth: ) but...

1: While I can see some posters' issues with too much fabric, that can be resolved with alterations. YOU love this dress. Since the price savings for the sample is only $100, go with the color that flatters you. Just get rid of the straps!
2: Speaking of flattering you - a straight neckline flatters you less than the modified sweetheart neckline of number one. This dress is nice, but not outstanding.
3: Respectfully, with or without the sash, allover lace is too similar to a lace tablecloth. It's a pretty dress, but not pretty enough for you. Although it is more flattering without the sash, for some reason.
4: Again, with all due respect, NO. This dress looks frumpy, with or without the sash.
5: The top is lovely - again, the sweetheart neckline - but the skirt goes with a prom dress, not a wedding gown :(
6: No. This LOOKS like a strapless dress to which cap sleeves were added, not a dress designed with sleeves.

I didn't go past page 2, but I really like #2. Reminds my of my dress.. and yep, it's very flattering! #1 was a close 2nd. I wasn't a fan of the others.
