(i posted this on the tech board too, but I thought this board gets so much traffic, maybe someone here can help...or steer me in the right direction)

Ok, we got Comcast high speed internet, we are using a Linksys router (2 desktops and 2 laptops). Using McAfee Security Center for anti-virus, anti-spam, spyware, privacy and firewall service. (updated allof them) Also using the comcast pop-up blocker. I have updated windows. I have run virus scan and spyware scan.

I keep getting a pop-up from McAfee saying "Potential Worn Activity Detected! The last few sent emails contained similar subject or body content. Email subject: Log file"

I choose to stop the email each time....this keeps on happening.

I also keep getting "Page cannot be displayed" when navigating the net. Sometimes it is all ok, ten this starts happening again.

My DH keeps getting pop-ups on his laptop, he can't even use his half of the time. (he keeps getting booted).

I am beyond frustrated. Called Comcast a few times, they said may be a virus...tried everything still can't find any viruses. Finally called linksyx and had them re-configure everything for us (thinking it was all wrong to begin with). Still having problems.

My DH wants to get rid of Comcast altogether. We are beyond frustrated in the week we have had it. It works sometimes, but it really isn't even all that fast. I thought aol dial-up was a hassle, this is worse.

What am I not thinking of? I want to call Comcast, but I don't even know what to say anymore...other than to get rid of it. I can't tell if this is an issue with them, or Linksys or our PCs or what....

TIA for any advice or suggestions!!!

Not sure I can advise anything you aren't already trying, but I seriously doubt that the problem is Comcast. Pop ups probably are coming from spyware - which adaware and spybot deal with much better than anything an ISP does. I didn't like the way the McAfee suite worked so we switched to Norton and we use the Windows firewall settings rather than the add-on firewall.

First off you got spyware and did spyware software to get off. I would recommend getting AD-Ware from www.lavasoft.com then get Spybot Search and Destory, Spydoctor from downloads.com.

Get the google pop-up blocker to.

Switch Browers to Firefox. IE is evil.

All those is free. I am sure Dan should be around with more recommends.

That's all i can think off right top of my head.

I'd try downloading and checking your computer with something like Sbybot search & destroy or Spyware Doctor (my favorite). I had problems like you are describing, and it did turn out to be a nasty spyware. I first downloaded Sbybot, which is free, and that solved part of the problem, but something still seemed wrong. Then I was told about Spyware Doctor, which you do have to pay for (but it's reasonable), and that solved the rest of the problem. It has also helped prevent a lot of other problems... I, too, switched over to Norton Internet Security, which I personally like better than McAffe.

Go to Download.com and go to their Spyware Center. Download and run 2 or 3 different Spyware programs. You'll find that each will find things the others didn't. Once you run all those, run a McAfee (or Norton) system scan. That should clear up the problems. I use Norton. I also have Comcast high speed and a Linksys network. No problems here. I had a horrible problem with viruses and spyware a couple of weeks ago and since running all the extra software, my system is as clean as a whistle now. Good luck to you.

Before any other troubleshooting...connect any ONE(1) of your computers directly to the cable modem>reset the power to the cable modem>restart your computer...before you ask-Mac or PC-i don't care...See if problem persists w/ "page cannot be displayed(PC)" this is purely to test the connection. You can do a continuous ping to see if you are losing packets.
The rest is likely spyware.
