We are thinking of staying for 3 nights at either the GF or Poly conceirge. We have never stayed at either resort before. It will be myself, my husband and our son who will be 4yrs old. We have visited both resorts and liked the look of both!!! Which would you say had the better conceirge? Better rooms? Better views? And finally, would you say that the conceirge part was worth the extra money, or would you stay in a standard room with a nice view?!

Look forward to hearing from you with your suggestions!!!

I love the Grand Floridian and have stayed there several times in standard rooms and fabulous view-rooms. We had an opportunity to stay at the Polynesian concierge and loved it! We thought the pampering, convenience, views from the lounge made it all worth while. The offerings were plenty, the staff were friendly and the choices great.

While I love the Grand Floridian, I can't say enough nice things about the Poly concierge!

Ditto RobinMarie's post. . .GF is nice, but Polynesian is home.

While I can'r comment on the GF, we just love the Poly. The concierge service there is especially nice. There have been mixed reviews on concierge at the GF. But the the Poly seems to get more good than bad reviews.

I've stayed concierge at both. I had an outstanding concierge visit at the polynesian last summer. They were fantastic in terms of service and friendliness. They were also extremely child friendly in many ways--having plastic juice cups, and paper milk cartons (like you get in school) as opposed to glass pitchers of milk/juice with tall glasses (NOT good for a kid, and that's what the GF has). The Poly also has bottled water to take to the parks, free stroller loaners (they are jogger style), a more kid friendly lounge, more kid friendly food in the lounge, mini-fridges in teh rooms, the list goes on.

I had such a bad experience with the concirege staff at the GF that I left after one night and moved to the Boardwalk! I will never stay concierge at the GF again.

I can't wait to stay at the Polynesian again, after the AKL they are my very favorite concierge experience.

The Polynesian gets our vote too. The CMs have been wonderful to us and made our trips special. We'll be back at the poly in 17 Days!!!!

If you do decide to go Poly, hopefully your Island Planner (Pre-trip Concierge) will be Tara. She's been awesome at getting everything planned for us! Can't thank her enough.

Thank you for your responses so far. Which floor were you all on? What was the view like? Do the smoking optional rooms on the 3rd floor smell smokey?! Can you see the Castle from your room?!

It sounds like the Poly would be a better choice for us, and we did think it was beautiful when we went to look round.

I was int eh Hawaii bldg last August ,1505, spot on castle view, gorgeous room, close to the lounge, no smoke, swing on teh beach right out the patio door :)

I can't recall room #s for the many rooms we've had in Hawaii. We've had the very last room, first floor, LV; next to the last room GV, 3rd floor; 3rd or 4th room from check-in desk, GV, 1st floor; midway down the hall 3rd floor GV. . .the list would go on, but I think you get the idea! I've never had a complaint about a room in Hawaii. We prefer 3rd floor--no noise up there from the neighbors--but liked all of the rooms for various reasons. Smoke was never an issue for us and we didn't smell any either.

I'd list your preferences in order of priority: floor #, balcony or patio, near the lounge, etc. The staff is usually very good about placing you where you want to be!

Of course, all this is based upon being in Hawaii and not Tahiti. . .that depends on when you go.

Not disputing the rest of the advantages of the Poly concierge, but wanted to point out for general information that GF concierge will give you paper cups with lids and straws for the kids. They are also more than happy to give you fresh milk for babies bottles straight from the fridge rather than use the jug of milk. A CM actually approached me and told me just to ask if I needed anything for the kids.

The Poly concierge sure sounds great but I've never stayed there, so I have nothing to offer vis a vis this resort. I can say that we did have a great time at GF last year, and I'll be more than happy to provide details of our upcoming trip when I get back.

We have stayed in both, and we would vote for the Poly. As you probably know, the GF has two "levels" of concierge - Sugarloaf and the main lodge. The food and drink offerings are more limited in the evening at Sugarloaf. The main lodge offerings are pretty much in line with the Poly, but at a higher price. The view from the lounge in the Poly is awesome - palm trees and sandy beach in front of the lagoon, with the castle in the background...

You did not mention when you would be staying, but the Hawaii building is currently out of action. The Tahiti lounges also have a great view of the castle, though I understand that they do not have the music piped in during the fireworks :( The smoking optional rooms are on the second floor in Tahiti.

Have a great time, whichever you decide!
Mike
