we are going to surprise our DDx2 11 and 14 on trip that we are going to universal. we have not been yet. we are huge harry potter fans. however my girls have not been into roller coasters yet. wife doesn't like to go upside down. Tbh i have not been on a coaster in long time due to my old size. use to love them. looking forward to riding agin now that i have droped 250 lbs!!! Anyways do we need to do the univ. express pass or the UE unlimited? not sure the differences. also not sure if on or off property is best. we always stay on at disney mod or above. Looks like we will have 3 full days at universal is this to much not enough will be in march 22. Looked up cost and they seem to be more than Disney tbh.

Looking at possible royal pacific if most think we need the UEP. seem that with pass staying on property is best option. may save a few hundred if staying off but not alot.

Any help advise etc.

We are staying at BW at disney renting DVC points. if there is options like this for Universal as well please advise. i find that it is best option for our family.

We went for the first time last month (otherwise Disney almost annually). Long story short we found getting annual passes for universal to be very affordable which in turn gave huge discounts towards the hotels and also discounts to many restaurants and merch. So you might want to price out annual passes… there are four tiers of annual passes. Some have block out dates.

Just finished a trip report (Trip of Firsts) and I would recommend staying at either Portofino, Hard Rock, or Royal Pacific for the included unlimited express passes for everyone in the room, especially for a first visit to learn what rides you like/don’t like, etc.Annual pass discount to those hotels are usually ‘affordable’ and well worth it for the unlimited express pass and larger room. We found costs of universal to be very reasonable compared to Disney, especially costs for hotels and what you get.

Unfortunately, UOR doesn't have any timeshare resorts affiliated with it. I'm not sure whether there are rooms with kitchens or kitchenettes in any of the UOR hotels either. However, you can save so much money by staying at a UOR deluxe hotel, especially with an AP discount (only one adult needs to have the AP), and getting the unlimited EPs included, that I think it would be well worth it not to have kitchen facilities! PS I think you'll be surprised at the cost when you price out the UOR deluxe hotels and compare them to Disney.
