Please help a newbie....

OK Universal experts, I need your honest opinions and advice. I only have ONE day to visit Universal. I'm travelling with two young girls ages 4 and 7. I have only been to the studios once a LONG time ago, kids have never been. I have not been to IOA. Neither child is a thrill seeker (they will ride HM at Disney but not into coasters or scary "bugs life" type 3-D movies).

Can you help me to decide, first of all, which park to visit (studios or IOA). We will be there in early November.

Secondly, can you help me with the scare factor of the following rides/shows:

Jaws, MIB, Earthquake, Twister, Jimmy Neutron and Shrek.

I know that the Mummy is out for the kids...but DH and I plan to ride it. Sounds amazing!

Jaws, MIB, Earthquake, Twister, Jimmy Neutron and Shrek.

It really depends on the kid. 6yr DD loves so many scary things but hates Jaws with a passion. Something about the shark freaks her out (but she love TOT at MGM, all the coasters she can ride etc)

MIB... she loves. There again it depends in the kid. The ride is smooth, but spins, and aliens I dont' think are scary, but then again that really depends on the kid

Earthquake.... DD loved at 3 1/2 and 4, but hated it this yr at 6

Twister... dark and and loud, I think it tends to get to many kidd

Jimmy Nutron and Shrek... I think the scare factor on both of these are very low. If the 3D effects bothers them they can alwaystake off the glasses in Shrek


As to which park... that is really hard. They would love Seuss Landing at IOA
but then US has Shrek, Jimmy Nutron, ET, Barney and the Curious George Area

DD has always seemd to like US better on previous trips (agas 3 1/2 and 4) but with the new additions at US she likes US a lot now.
Just asked her which she likes better and she can't decide. As much as she likes Jimmy Nutron and Shrek, there are so many things at IOA that she likes. Now hse is talking about Jurassic Park Play area and Popeye and Blutos Bile Rat Barges. I think IOA is winning her pick of parks just due to the number of rides she enjoys there.

I would say u will enjoy USO more twister pre show is scarier than the actual show but have saw plenty of small kids upset due to build up earthquake opp pre show more funny but train ride could be more scarier jaws for kids is scary shrek & jimmy great fun no fear at all although shrek preshow can be a little claustiphobic due to crowds all packed in in theatre everyone has own seat, it is worth mentioning at the kid zone lots more for young kids woody coaster ET animal planet plus the playgrounds also Barney Show so there should be plenty to keep them amused

My kids have never been scared at any of the rides that you listed. They both got scared on King Kong and DD hates T2 because its so loud. Jaws would have rate the scariest of all of those. When Jaws first came out all the reviews said how realistic it was. I have never thought that though.
My vote is USO.
