We are planning our 1st trip to Disney in Jan for our 10th anniversary. Our girls and both sets of our parents are going. For Christmas I thought of making a gift basket for each person for the trip.

Please give me ideas of what would be good to include.......so far I got a Disney shirt (the girls shirts match and the "moms" have different matching shirts, I can't talk DH into making the matching tye dye, yet ;) ), ponchos, a Britta water bottle and travel size samples that they don't give out at the hotel, like shave cream and lotion and hairspray.

I thought about travel games for the girls, first time flying.

But I am clueless what else would be nice and get used and maybe even save a little money in the long run.

*Also any tips on a good kind of bag to use at the parks. My Mom said about using her tote but I am thinking a backpack might be better since it would zip and have more room and 2 shoulder straps. I will have a stroller but for the GPs who are 55-65 carrying water and snacks.

TIA!

PaulaSue,
How about tucking a few Disney Dollars in each basket? You can purchase them at a Disney store or if you don't have one near you, I believe you can order them online.....not sure.

I found great disney tablets and stickers at the dollar store. I also found pens with mickey and minnie on them for a dollar at wal-mart. I though my girls would like these for the plane ride. princess: princess:

here's a list of some of the stuff ive bought so far, glow necklace, disposable camera,t-shirt, plush minnie, coffee mug, kids guide book, that' s about it so far.I thought about a beach towel since these are now going on markdown. happy planning

The girls are getting Disney dollars for every holiday and Birthday for almost a year until we actually are going, that is just from us. I know my Dad has been talking about getting them some and he goes overboard for everythign to do with the girls. They are going to have more money than Dh and I to spend. :rotfl:

I forgot I did get some things at Dollar tree last month with princess on them. Thanks for the reminder! I hid it and forgot already. :O I also got the dolls there for easy gifts (tinkerbelle) and travel well.

Any ideas of what to get for the grown ups? My Mom hasn't been to FL since I was 10 ('80) and My Dad was there with ex'DW about 10 years ago. My ILs havent been since ('87 or so with DH).

Any good Disney travel books to recommend or somethign like that? Our parents don't need us for the disney dollars, of course.....if I give it to them I am sure they would be regifted to the girls. Hummmmmm, that idea is growing on me. LOL

We are driving so I have a bag of stuff for my 2 munchkins...let's see what is my little bag of tricks...all sorta disney themed of course:
* Coloring books & crayons
* Stickers
* Water Paint Books
* New sunglassess for both kids
* New sun hat for each kid
* Bubbles
* Little hand held maze games and picture puzzle game where you slide the * pieces around and make a picture - pack of 6 at dollar store
* Autograph books for when in disney
* Little hand held battery operated fan
* plastic disney watches got for 1.99 at disney store
* did not get but going on you have 2 girls the Disney Store also had lip gloss for 1.99 and bath and body works has their little girl line of personal stuff - glitter body spray, lip gloss, soaps.
* Roll of quarters and pennies for each to do pressed pennies in parks (you could also include a list of locations if you can find one.
For adults - harder to do a basket up but if you have down time planned do a beach bag up - towel, sunscreen, cheap sunglasses, magazine or book, flip flops for at the resort pool or water parks.
You could also do some sort of a mailing basket if you know they would send postcards - paper, pens, stamps (disney ones available right now at PO) - or add a few of these items into your basket instead of theming it.
Good luck and have a blast!!! :earsgirl:

Hummm..disp. cameras, LOVE it! I just saw them at Target and I have a coupon which would make them about $1 each. Thanks!!!! I bet the girls would love them too.

And I forgotten I got some glow somethign or another at Target's the dollar spot a few months ago on 75 % clearence. Now I just hope I can find all the stuff I have been stashing, before my trip. :rotfl:

Please Keep the great ideas up.

I'm doing gift bags for my guests at my wedding. Some things you didn't list that might work for your parents:

hand held fans
soothing foot cream
cooling neck ties
post card w/ disney stamp

hope this helps

Here are a few things I haven't seen mentioned...

Pin Lanyard and a few pins for trading. Energizer Batteries has a promotion where you get a free pin inside specially marked packages.

Disney themed toothbrushes

Beach Towels (Disney of course!) or a Swim Cover-Up

Stuffed Mickey and Minnie (Just found the cutest Vintage style ones at Target on clearance.)

Light Chasers--These are so pretty at night during fireworks--You can find them on sale sometimes at the Disney Store

Expandable Washcloths--the cute little Disney ones from the Disney Store that expand once you put them in wate

Fat Pens to go with the Autograph Books

Waist/Fanny packs for the girls

I love the idea about the postcards and stamps for the adults. That is such a useful and thoughtful gift.

Also for adults...

4X6 Disney Photo Album

Small Backpack or Waist/Fanny Pack

Water Wallet if you plan on doing a waterpark or spending time at the Resort pool.

For books, what about the Unofficial Guide, Hidden Mickey or trivia book. Or a Passporter if they will like it for the info and planning aspects?

Congrats on your first trip! Don't forget sunscreen! You might want to get the girls autograph books (we used disney themed spiral notebooks and the kids were able to include some daily journaling and photos.) They are much cheeper home than at WDW. According to the ages of the kids, you might want to give them each a disposable camera and Disney dollars from the Disney Store. When my kids were younger, I would buy many disney "prizes" from the clearence rack of Disney Store and other Disney items found at local stores. I would ship them to our resort in a wrapped box for very little $$$$ when we checked in, the kids felt like Mickey himself was giving them gifts-they wouldn't ask for much when we got to the park.

A fanny pack worked great for my DD. It was small enough not to be cumbersome, yet just the right size to fit an autograph book, pen and disposable camera. This way she had what she needed at her finger
tips without having to dig through my bag each time we came upon a character...plus it lightened my load a little :goodvibes . If you have a local disney store, they are having a clearance sale now and you might find some odds and ends to pick up.

Good Luck :wizard:

I have found that small backpacks work best for the parks.
I gave my friend a Disney Basket that included-
-candy and other food for the plane
-sunglasses
-sunscreen
-foot lotion
-disney pajamas
-stamps and a mickey pen
-flip flops (disney store just had patriotic ones really cheap)
-mini purell bottles
-hat
-a bag to use as a carry on on the plane
-disney cds
-a stuffed animal
-disney frame
-first aid kit
-luggage tags- (use the disney paint chips)

Also, with a big group, I would suggest that you buy bright, thick ribbon to put on everyone's luggage.

I LOVE ALL the Tips!!!!!! Thank you so MUCH Everyone!!! :cool1:

I can't wait to get "offically" started on these. They area going to be so cute!!!!

Please keep the ideas coming!

PaulaSue,

I just got this off another thread as a packing list, maybe it will have some things on it for what you want.

must haves...
For what it's worth, I have made a list of all of the things that we "had to have" for our trip a couple of weeks ago; things we couldn't have gone without. I got so many tips from this board and all of them were so appreciated!! However, I found that I ended up taking way too much that we never used. This is the pared down list of what I will make sure to take along on our next trip! (Hopefully before too long!! ) Hope it is helpful to someone!

for the room:

-prepackaged cereals and oatmeals. We heated water in the coffeepot for the oatmeal and found it kept us full longer than the sugary cereals.
-cereal bars
-anti-bacterial wipes. Wiped down the faucets, doorknobs, tv remote, phone receiver, etc.
-envelopes with mouskeeping tips made up at home with correct amount of $. This made things much easier every morning not having to look for the right bills to leave, plus we decorated the envelopes with cute stickers beforehand.
-dishwashing wipes, for the re-fillable mugs and our plastic spoons from our cereal.
-advil
-peppermint foot and leg lotion
-children's chewable tylenol
-chewable pepto bismol
-clothes pins. I got plastic ones on hooks at the dollar store to put over the clothesline in the tub.
-trash bags for dirty clothes
-Downy wrinkle remover

for the parks:

-water bottles. We got Britta filter bottles and filled them each am with ice.
-water bottle holders. The only ones I could find with a strap to fit our bottles were from Walgreen's. They cinched in at the top and worked great.
-purell
-autograph book
-fat permanent markers
-camera
-sunglasses
-sunscreen
-lip balm with sunscreen
-hats
-money
-mini fan (for dd)
-dollar store rain ponchos
-watch (so we could keep track of times to return for fastpass!)
-quarters and shiny pennies for pressed penny machines
-fanny packs
-glow sticks/toys for evening activities (kept dd from asking for everything she saw that lighted up!)
-AIRWALK clogs from Payless (dd and I walked around in ours for 6 straight days with no problems! I had much less back and hip pain than normally when I walk around that much, and not even anything close to a blister!!)
-TICKETS!

The adults could really use the Brita Fill & Go. That way they don't have to carry water bottles. It filters the drinking fountain water. I found mine at either Kmart or Walmart (can't remember anymore) in the plumbing section I think. It was where they sell filters.

I just now noticed the pennys and quarters idea. Love that but do you know what pressed options there? I am just trying to fugure out about how much to include for each girl. They like the princesses and minnie stuff. TIA

Pressed Pennies - One thing I learned on the DIS that we used on our trip last month was get an empty mini M&M tube (of course emptying the tube is part of the fun :flower: ) and then put in two quarters, then a shiny penny, then two quarters, shiny penny....until you fill it up. This will keep the quarters and pennies for the pressed penny machines in one spot and ready to go!

That way you aren't digging down into the backpack / purse for the change each time.
