Please give brutally honest feedback about Biergarten

I let a friend who grew up in Germany talk me into lunch at the Biergarten.

Never again!

I love Germany, but the food is a whole different story.

Now we compromise, he goes to Germany, which I hate, while I go to Italy which he hates. :p

Biergarten is one of our favorites, and we go practically every trip! But, then again, we love German music, and meeting other people at the table, and saukraut! :p :p

Well, I love beer and socializing but the menu doesn't appeal to me a lot. We may try it in December though. I am curious of how it compares to the "Festhaus" atmosphere in Busch Gardens, Williamsburg. We go there so much that if it's really similar I might do something else.

Your husband has been pushing you for the past Three trips??!! Just go for goodness sakes, it's only one meal, make the poor man happy.

Rexfan: the ond at Wdw is in a much smaller venue than the one at Busch Gardens. The "show" at BGW is, to me, more coreographed, and more fun, but we still enjoyed Biergarten.

Biergarten is by far on of our favorite places at WDW. 14 DS names it as his favorite restaurant anywhere. The food is very good, and the desserts are amazing.
heres the menu

even 9yr picky niece liked the food. At 2 1/2 DD ate more there than anywhere else on our trip. I think she ate her weight in potatoe dumplings

When they make out the seating I think they really try to match to to like groups. Also there are a few smaller tables that seat 2 (or is it 4)

My MIL makes it, you put it in a big barrel with water I believe and let mold build on, then you take the mold off and let it get moldy again. I believe this goes on for 3 weeks. YUCK!!

If she lets it mold then she is doing something wrong. The key to good kraut it to boil the top weight to keep the mixture from molding LOL.... New york/polish garlic pickels are made by the same fermentaiton process (as are many other pickled food such as kimchee). BTW you must really hate cheese since it a product of mold.

First off let me tell you that I am not a picky eater!! I love all types of food.
I only have one comment about the Biergarten YUCK!!!!!!!!
This was the most unedible food at WD. The saurkraut was cloying and the music was irritating to say the least.

Having a German background, I have to say the food is far from authentic, and as we don't care for communal seating or buffet style meals we don't go for dinner. Try this, however. Often DH and I will share a bratwurst plate for lunch outside. This will give you an idea if you like the food for a lot less money.

I doubt she is doing something wrong since it is not only my MIL but other women, all from Germany.

I went with a big group of people a year ago. I loved the atmosphere and we had fun but I HATED THE FOOD. Since 1973 it was the worst meal I ever had at Disney. Sorry you asked for honest :)

That is all real sauerkraut is; you layer cabbage and salt in a crock or barrell and let it sit/ferment for a time. Nothing really gross about it but it does smell until your rinse off the salt.

We eat in the Biergarten each trip..the lunch menu is a good bargain considering the price of food at WDW. We like the food, and we spent years in Germany with the military. Most of the time the people they sat us with were friendly and we did strike up a conversation with them..met some wonderful British people there last trip. Saw them a couple of more times on the trip and we always spoke.

No one has ever encouraged us to sway back and forth all the times I have eaten there.

We love Beirgarten, but we are both German. I love the saurkraut (and my very German mom makes it and I have never seen mold on it?!) We always have a great time whenever we go here. There are so many different items to choose from and the deserts were wonderful. I love the Black Forest cake and my DH loves the apple strudel. I say go and try it.

My very German in laws make it, mold on top. It's the way they make it, they eat and love it and so do all they give it to. No one gets sick to them its great. You don't make it like that? Fine. I don't think there is a wrong or right way. I don't eat it for that fact, thats me, my opinion.

To each his own.......this restaurant has become one of our favorites over the past few years. The food is always tasty...the service good....the entertainment; well...entertaining. If you are looking for a quiet meal, this is not the place. It is a bit loud but very upbeat and fun. You may be seated with others but I never find that to be a problem.

The food does NOT all taste like sauerkraut....or permeate with the odor of sauerkraut. I personally do not eat any sauerkraut or sausages and find the selection to be ample and tasty ('sauerkraut-less' per se). The roast pork is wonderful and the spaetzle a nice change of pace (for a starch). By the way...I love sausages but find the other selections to be too tantalizing to not try.....I can eat sausages any time.

For the price, I feel this is one of the top buffets at WDW period!

We ate there in May. We were a party of 10. When I made the PS I was told that we would be at 2 tables. We were happy when we arrived that we were all at one table. Every one of us LOVED it!

We loved the food -- even DH who is a very PICKY eater (not what you expect from a country boy, though!) thought it was awesome. They had plenty for the little ones to eat and they enjoyed going down to dance after being invited down during the show. There was nothing to complain about as far as the service goes, and it was just a great experince for us all!

Hope you enjoy it!:D

I have eaten here a couple of times....last September with DH, who it not an avid Disney fan, he goes with me to keep me happy.Since he was stationed in Germany while in the service, the food was very appealing to him. We sat at one of the long tables with 3 other couples from Louisiana. It turned out to be a really fun time! I am a "food snob" (DH's term) and the food is decent for a buffet. The group at the table was a lot of fun and so hospitable you would have thought it was their home!! Since the whole experience was different from the norm in terms of a dining experience, we both really enjoyed it and I am sure we will go again.
