it just so turns out, this is the only week we will be able to get away and since dh refuses to go in the summer (too hot) we booked easter week. we got a good air fare out of new york non stop for 200 a person including tax and fees. we booked the air and a package at disney but now that we've mentioned our trip to a few people, they are saying we will regret it, it will be really crowded - which i think we can tolerate as long as it isn't a gazillion degrees..............anyways now my airfare isn't refundable/changeable and i am having second thoughts....anyone want to make me feel better??? :sunny:

You are going to Disney. You are going to Disney. You are going to Disny.

Repeat as needed :cool1: :rotfl:  :Pinkbounc

We go every year for Easter week because of the school schedule -- I don't want to take DS out of high school. Even though its crowded, if you plan ahead, you will have a great time. One of the nice things about that time is that the parks are open very early and very late. This past Easter the MK had EMH every morning for about 10-days straight and it was open quite late almost every night. There are usually 3 showings of Fantasmic, 2 Spectros, etc. Just be sure you go early, take a break in the afternoon when it is the most crowded period, and return around dinner. I also recommend TourGuideMike for help on planning during that time. You will have a great time.

We normally go in January or February, and so we're used to empty parks. This spring, however, Easter was the only time we could go. We were there the entire week before Easter. We had cold feet before going because people on the discussion boards were talking about how incredibly crowded it was. And, yes, it was very crowded. But we still had a great time. We had a guest with us who had never been--and so we needed to show her all the highlites. Three things made it a great success: 1) fast pass; 2) we got to the parks somewhat early and then usually took breaks in the afternoon; and 3) we arranged priority seating so we were guaranteed at least one relaxing meal each day.
I know it sounds like an exaggeration, but we truly never waited more than 10 minutes for anything. When we went in the morning we did one or two popular attractions while also getting a fast pass for another popular attraction. As soon as we'd use up that fast pass we'd get another one and while waiting for that fast pass window to open we would shop or go on a line with no rides. By doing that we could always get in 5 or 6 rides within the first couple of hours in a park--and then the pressure is off. You're free to shop, take in a street show, or go enjoy your meal--while still feeling like you beat the crowds and got your money's worth. Then we'd take a break and return in the evenings. As exhausted folks were streaming out of the parks we were able to repeat the morning's experience.
As the week went on the crowds grew and grew--but the strategy kept on working.
Try it. Admittedly it's not as perfect as when the parks are empty. After all there's nothing like strolling down main street with only a few dozen people on it. And that's definitely not the Easter experience. But it still smells like Disney, sounds like Disney, and there are certain to be some of those special Disney moments.

Figure out where you want to dine during your trip and book those ADRs NOW.

Get to the parks early and use fastpass.

Check out the park hours and start working on your game plan.

We were there Easter 2004 and will be there again next Easter. :cheer2:

The parks will be packed, but with a plan, you should be able to avoid long lines and have a wonderful time.

I booked all of our ADRs back in October. :earseek: :earseek:

We went the first week of April last spring, and loved it! First of all, the weather was absolutely perfect! People were all in good spirits, and we spent a day at Typhoon Lagoon, which was great! Follow a good plan, as the other posters have suggested, and you'll be fine! :flower:

This will be my first time going at Easter too this year. Our high school band will be there the whole week after Easter Sunday. I dont care how busy it is I cant wait to go back . :earsgirl:

We went over Easter Week 4 years ago for our honeymoon and it was fine. The crowds are heavier but it didn't seem too bad. The parks were open longer so that was plus. If this isn't your first trip-I'd say you are fine. This way you can pick and choose what you do and know you've seen it before. It will be fun-it's DISNEY!

The weather is usually absolutely perfect at this time of year, so enjoy that, relax, don't try to do everything. We were there last year from March 25 to April 9, and will be going again for Easter in 2006. We don't worry about what we can't/won't see because it's just such a perfect time, weather-wise, to be in the area.

Easter 2005 we took advantage of the early opening at MK on two days. We were at the gates by 6:50 and did a days worth of rides by 11:00 when it started to get crowded. It was great! When we came back in the evening there were 90-120 minute waits at some of the rides, but we had done them all already.

Myself and my two children are visiting for 3 weeks over Easter.Ive never been at this time of year before --- where will there be some Easter events - like egg hunts please?

Thanks,
Lynn
