I'm new to this board, and cannot figure out for the life of me what "ADR" is. We're going to WDW in October, and I'd like to make some reservations for some character meals.

TIA!

An ADR is and advance dining reservation. What it means is that you get the next table for your party size before any walk ups. It is not a reservation per say as most restuarants dont charge anything if you dont show up (although some do like California Grill and Cinderella's Royal Table) You will want to make your ADR's so that you are guranteed a spot in the restaurant as opposed to just walking up and having to wait 2 hours etc. Even though October is a slower time I would still make them just to be safe. They can be made 180 days in advance. If you have more questions just ask!! :thumbsup2

As Skylar19 said, they guarentee you a table at a sit down restaurant. I believe that if you know where you want to eat, or if you want to eat at a specific time it is essential to make ADR's. Most often you are seated within 15 minutes of your ADR time, but sometimes you do end up waiting a bit. That said, theDinig Pla had made TS restaurants very popular and many are turning away "walk ups" or they are waiting hours to be seated.
Check out the menus on allearsnet.com. They will give you an idea of the menus as well as the cost of food at Disney.
Have Fun Planning!
