I don't really understand the logistics. :confused3 Are you making a ressie and then adding on to it each successive day or are you making a new ressie each day? Or some other variation? With concerns about being able to book at the 7 month window becoming more common, I figure I better understand the concept.
Any help is appreciated greatly.

When you call the first day, you tell MS that you will be calling in day by day to add to the reservation. They are used to this as a lot of members do it. Then they add the second, third, etc days to the reservation.

We did this with our Thanksgiving reservation at VWL because it is so small and because we had a limited number of points at 11 months. We used 200 points and got four nights in a one bedroom and three in a studio. Exactly at 7 months we called to change the studios to a one bedroom.

Thank you very much for that explanation. I wonder if they would make you change rooms on the second part (7 month) of the ressie?. Probably not as I understand that you can request a certain room but it is not guaranteed? I guess I will have to actually start using that alarm function on my cell phone to remind me to call every day at 11 months and then again at 7 months. Great plan though for optimization of points on multiple contracts. :thumbsup2

Again, good explanation and it is appreciated.

You just ask them to link the reservations and they ultimately come out as a single reservation.

I wonder how this works with the dining plan. Dining plan credits typically expire at midnight on the check-out day. If you have 7 linked one-night reservations instead of a single 7-day reservation, it might force you to eat exactly one TS, one CS, and one snack each day. I know that would cramp my DDP style. We do at least one show or signature dining location each trip.

Actually the process works great. I just finished doing a day-by-day for six nights at a Studio next June at HHI. After the first day, it only took at the most a minute on the phone to add the extra day.

When you do day by day, they don't link single reservations but rather extend the original one (assuming it's all the same room type). It's still one reservation, one reservation number. Even if they link separate reservations, it's still one for the dining plan. I had this come up in April. I booked 3 nights and a friend booked 1 night. We actually had 3 reservation numbers because the friend booked the second night of the 4 night stay because it was a Friday night. But when we checked in, we got keys for all 4 nights and the dining plan was for 4 nights. We had no problems with the days.
