Please don't use flash on PotC

This is really starting to bug me, they say no flash photography, before you get on the ride. I don't care why you're doing it, follow the rules. I've told people that there is no flash allowed while on the ride, it ruins the ride for others to see the flashes going off at everything.
Thank you.
Enjoy your vacation

Aye!! It is annoying to others, but obviously folks who do it don't care much about what others think or feel

It's always fun to do your best to block their shots... like pointing at ride features with your arm in front of their camera.

The REALLY annoying ones turn around to take a picture behind them... promptly blinding everyone seated behind them in the boat.

I don't know about everyone else, but on a sunny day, if I don't have to wait for pirates, my eyes don't get to "night vision" until the Wicked Wench scene.

I completely agree!!! Thank you for this thread. We had someone behind us on our second ride through take pic after pic after pic, with a flash.

The other ride we ran into a problem with was Nemo...someone videotaped the ride all the way through with a bright light on the front of their video camera. Totally took away from the experience.

That happened during my last trip to DL. Instead of hearing the ride audio, the whole time we all just heard "No flash photography please. No flash photography please." over and over (over the PA system in the ride).

I wish the PA would do that at WDW, I've never heard it on the ride. Just before you board the boat.

Ya know, I think you should be able to go on the ride again (without waiting in line) when your ride has been ruined by an inconsiderate fool.

I would love nothing more than to rip the camera from their hands and drop it in the water.

While I understood why they kept doing that, I almost would have rather they just did it once or twice and then let us listen to the ride audio. Yes, the flash was incredibly annoying, but it was even more annoying to have the flash, and not be able to hear any of the ride audio.

How about the person who kept taking pictures of the Soarin' screen the whole time the last time we were there. I could remotely understand people wanting pictures in POTC or something similar (though that does annoy me too), but she was basically taking pictures of a movie screen - how dumb is that?

And does the picture come out if you don't use a flash--I would probably just use my video camera--which will not have a flash on it!

Someone did this to us on PotC, too. It was not only annoying but also a bit painful. We were blinded every 10 seconds throughout the whole ride.

At one point the daughter, asked the mom if she should stop taking pictures (obviously responding to the other passengers glares of annoyance), but the mom said, "No, it's fine. Keep taking pictures. Oh look. There's Johnny Depp." Snap. Snap. Snap. "That's a good one!" Snap. Snap. Snap.

So inconsiderate!

The other time a ride was ruined for us by a picture-taking was Soarin'. It was a bunch of people in a foreign tour group, and 6 or so of them took pictures constantly.

What other rides do they not allow flash photography?
Basically any indoor ride attraction. PoTC, HM, Peter Pan, Snow White, Splash, SE, etc.

Agreed, it ruins the ride for everyone.
Unfortunately, there will always be people that think rules do not apply to them.:confused3

Here's a hint: if it's dark, they designed it that way for a reason. :) The rest of us would like to be able to see the ride, rather than just bright flashes of white. I'm sorry if your photos will not turn out otherwise, but may I suggest a high-quality low light camera with high-speed film? Though, if you're like me, you can put the camera down, sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. It's funny how many people get off a ride after taking pictures the whole time only to realize they have no idea what they just saw... they were concentrating more on the photos than on the attraction!

I promise that making it dark was not a measure to cut costs on lights, lightbulbs, or electricity. It's for the effect. And yes, there is lightning on PotC. I am certain a highly-paid Imagineer seriously considered where to place it, how bright it should be, and how much there should be. Your flash is NOT a special effect.

Funny, I posted this same thing somewhere in another thread! And hoped some of those stupid flash cameras would fall into the water.

I have, honestly, not ridden POTC a SINGLE TIME in the past 2 yrs without some camera or other constantly flashing. This was at WDW, and there were announcements right in the middle of the ride, although I can't remember for sure if it was POTC or another dark ride. Big Brother apparently knows someone is breaking the no-flash rules.

I have considered going on the ride a second time right after, but figured why bother. Probably some selfish person in my second boat would do the same darn thing.

omg!
i just can't belive someone would actuctly take pics on soarin'!!!
thats crazy.

and i never really thought of ruining someones pic, like stiking in anr/fimger/head into it. but i will now. lol :rotfl2:

I must be oblivious because I never actually remember anyone taking pictures on any of the rides I went on. Now that I have been made aware of it I can't be blissfully ignorant the next time I go I will remember this thread and notice it too. I wonder how many of the people are non english speaking if they don't hear them announce no flash photography over and over.

We agree the flash photographers are a pain during the dark rides.

We love taking pictures during our trip (took over 2000 on our 6 day trip in May) but don't have any difficulties following the no-flash rules. Of course there are always those who feel the rules don't apply to them. They mix well with those who feel the need to drown out the ride soundtrack with their loud conversations during the ride.

It isn't just the flashes. It is also the glow from the screens as people with movie cameras take movies or people with digital cameras frame their shot.

Oh, and the light beams from those taking movies.

I seriously think about bringing a squirt gun and squirting those cameras. :rotfl:
