Please convince me WDW in June is ok

Ok, the cast is me, DH, DD (11) and DD (8). We spent 10 days in WDW when the girls were 4 and 7 and thought that we should maybe do the Disney Cruise this time around. Because we have ALWAYS done WDW in September or October (and are quite spoiled by that), we felt that a cruise may be better for us if we vacation during the summer months. Considering that our oldest daughter will be in her first year of middle school, we no longer feel comfortable taking her out of school for an extended vacation, and therefore, plan to take our next Disney trip in June. I am very concerned by the heat and rain that would must certainly be a part of a WDW vacation during summer. If we do a WDW vacation we will be able to spend 10 days, but if we do the cruise, it will be limited to the 7 days. I would prefer to do the WDW vacation, considering that we can spend extra days, for less money. Please convince me that we wouldn't be miserable at WDW in June!!

I can only speak from our experience in going in the summer months. We have gone the last 3 years once each in June, July, and August and we are headed back this year in July. My wife is a teacher so the only good option for us is the summer. As for the weather yes it is HOT, but Disney does a great job with air conditioning and if you drink plent of fluids you will be just fine. What has worked well for us has been staying on-site and being at the parks in the morning, as the crowds and heat builds heading back to the resort for an afternoon break and a swim, and then returing to the parks in the evening. As for the rain we have been very lucky. What we have experienced has been rain a few days during the week for an hour or so in the afternoon. Hopefully that answers some of your questions but if you have more feel free to ask away

I have always felt - Disney any time of year is good. Although I do like May and October - I am going this August and I know it will be HOT. I just drink more water and take it a little easier.

We usually go in the summer months and will be going this June again (last year did March; it was hot even then). It will be hot, but if you plan breaks in the afternoon (either back at your room or doing something indoors at the parks, i.e. shows) then you should be fine. Since you will be there for 7 days you'll be able to take afternoon breaks and still see everything. Get there as early as you can in the morning to get as much in before it gets really hot.

We went last June and I'll be honest, we were hot and much more cranky then when we travel in Sept/Oct and January. I don't do very well in the heat so perhaps that is part of my problem. If you're used to visiting in Sept/Oct, you will notice a big difference, IMHO, in heat and humidity. We were there the first week of June last year and the last week of September the second trip was much more pleasant. That being said, if the summer was the only time I could visit, I would certainly do it, but it by no means will ever be my first choice.

This will be the fourth straight year we have gone in June. If you plan well, you can have an enjoyable trip. I agree with all the previous posters, get started early and take mid-day breaks. We have always enjoyed our summer trips.

We went in June last year and had a wonderful time. It only rained 2 of the 10 days we were there and those were afternoon showers that lasted 2-3 hours. The heat did get to me after a few days, as we are from Ca and not used to humidity...I'm planning our next trip for xmas time, but I wouldn't not go because of the heat.

RAIN ,RAIN . It's there "rainy season". We went 2x at the end of June and both vacations it rained ...every single day !!! They were not just those typical short afternoon cool down showers ,but "downpours"...sometimes we walked around the parks with our ponchos on for hours ,other times we just sat in our room/food court waiting for the storms to pass. Sorry ,but I wouldn't plan on the end of June for any further trips to WDW...We went @ the end of August last summer and it was much better ....only an occasional shower once or twice during our trip !!!

We would never consider going in any month other than June. We find the weather to be great, but we're from Wisconsin and know better than to complain about hot weather The crowds are manageble as long as you plan ahead. I think you will find it quite enjoyable. Have FUN!

We went in June of 2004 and it was very hot! I think it was wonderful, I like the heat though. It only sprinkled on night, after 11 pm and I was doing laundry, other than that, we never saw another drop of rain. It did rain in the area close to POP century though, they closed the pool down one afternoon for about 45 minutes, but we never saw rain or heard thunder. Have fun!

We usually go in June for Star Wars Weekend. It is so hot! We managed to take our time doing everything we wanted to. Staying on site and being able to stay late helped us to do everything in MK.

This year we are going for Christmas and New years!

You will love it. I'm a teacher and my kids are in middle school so there is no other option for us. We have only ever gone in June. You will have a wonderful.

I went in June once and will never go again. It is hot, humid and crowded. Of course, I don't like the heat and neither does my family, so we were all pretty miserable. If it doesn't bother you, then you'll be fine as long as you do Fast Passes, get there in the mornings and take breaks...maybe visit the water parks...the lazy river (I think that's what it is called) at Typhoon Lagoon is great for hot summer days.

I totally agree with what WIDisneyFan said. Going first thing in the morning and using Fast Pass when ever possibleis the best thing you can do. A mid afternoon swim refreshes you for a nice evening in the parks as well.

Minuses: It's hot and it's crowded.
Pluses: Virtually all the attractions (including the 'seasonal' ones) are open, and the parks are open much longer hours, so you can take a break during the hottest, most crowded part of the day and still have lots of time to see what you want.
Bottom line: You're in WDW; ANYTHIME is a good time to be there!

June isn't my favorite time to visit either none the less I'll be there this June and probably the next several years in early June. My DD is a freshman in high school in weighted high honors classes and there is no way we can take her out of school.

Go as early in June as you possibly can and plan well. I'll be there the 1st 2 full weeks of June to beat as much of the crowd and heat as possible. Not sure what day we gonna arrive yet it won't be before Tuesday and we don't plan to go in the parks every day. Not sure yet just how many nights we will stay prolly 7 or 8 possibly 9. No desire to be there the 2nd weekend. Got my 5 day tickets that I've had for awhile to use.

You all are great! I really appreciate all of your honesty. I know we'll enjoy ourselves, regardless of whether we go to WDW or take the Disney Cruise, but I really am leaning towards doing WDW. Even though I'm sure the cruise is great, I just don't know if I can skip the parks. That's where my heart truely is!

Since I am a teacher, summer is the only time we can go. We went in June 2002 and it RAINED everyday - I mean RAINED! Every picture we have, we all have on our ponchos! That being said, we loved it in the rain. It really kept the crowds down and it was a lot cooler. We are going again this June. My husband hopes it rains again!?! We plan on drinking a lot of water, taking plenty of breaks, getting to the parks at opening, having a good touring plan and totally enjoying ourselves. You will love WDW no matter when you go!

We were there last year in June. Previously we had been in April, Sept and Dec, all low crowd times.

First it was hot. Some days felt much hotter than others. Get up early and take those afternoon breaks. It rained almost everyday around dinner time. Buy some $1 ponchos at the dollar store before you go and be prepared. The one time we were at MGM and it rained, we were headed to the buses. I wore a poncho to protect the camera, my 3 yo dd wore hers and my boys liked getting wet after being so hot all day.

The other factor is crowds. There will be a lot of them. Again, get up early and take advantage of the early morning hours. Use fastpass, and park hop. As long as you know what you want to do and when is the best time to do it, you'll be fine. But just remember there will be a lot of people, especially compared to off season.

Finally there's the heat and crowds combination. We were going to the new Stars, MotorCars thing at MGM. I just remember TONS of people in a space with no breeze and then we had to wait in the blistering sun to get up in the bleachers. I really didn't even enjoy the show because I was so hot. My kids however didn't complain at all (2, 6, 9).

Get up early, bring lots of water, get a misty fan for everyone, and remember it's still better than being at home.

Sorry - I can't present any arguments for visiting Disney in June, especially after our last trip in early January, with fabulous weather and no crowds.

It's just too hot and too crowded in June for me.
