I don't understand some DVC Owners at all!

This makes me so mad!

I mean, I am an OWNER! I paid a lot of money to buy my points, and I pay my outrageous MF each and every year.

I own a percentage of theis resort, and I'll check-out when I'm good and ready.

You self-hating, apologetic Owners are what are wrong with the DVC.

If a Manager or Mousekeeper ever tried to rush me and my family, I'd just point out, that I pay their salaries, if they don't like it they should quit, or go work at SSR!

Now, on the other hand, when we arrive at 10:30 AM or so, our room better be ready (I know about the 'after 4PM rule'). And if it's not I just point out that.....

Maybe it is a NorthEast 'bad' DVCer thing. You guys are way to soft and accomidating. No wonder poop is smeared on your bathroom doors!

And that guy who didn't pay for 'loosing' the safe key, why he ripped all of us honest, dues paying, reasonable & responsable DVC Owners off! That manager should be fired! ;)

Yes, this is one of 'those' posts.....

WOW! I'm never sure if your serious or not! Please someone tell me, is this for real!!

No, he's having a go at those "types" of people who display an "entitlement" mentality.

I'm with Tony ... in fact, next time I head up to The World, I'm not even going to make reservations. I'm just going to show up and tell them I want my room, and I want it *now*. And if they don't have the view I want ... well ... they better get maintenance/construction right on it. Because I don't want any dust or debris in my room either.

I mean, I am an OWNER too! I paid a lot of money to buy my points, and I pay my outrageous MF each and every year.

And as far as checkout? Well ... I'll leave when I'm ready, not a moment before.

Who do these people think they are? Unbelievable. Fire the lot of them I say.

But there are no late checkouts with DVC. The rooms take longer to clean and all members should realize this.

I agree with mic_KY_mouses on this one. Members should know better and no one should be that self centered to think the rule doesn't apply to them.

Good to know- my first DVC stay will be in Dec. I'm new. I would never stay late without asking first so I would have found out. It really doesn't matter at Disney anyway because there is too much to do to spend the last day sleeping!

Thanks pilferk, he really caught me off guard on that one! I was ready to start typing! ;)

I know the problem is being caused by THOSE RENTERS. They don't know the rules or even care because they aren't members. I personally never have the
opportunity to have late check out because I always have the maid knocking at the door starting right at 8:30 AM or phoning us to wake us up. I usually plan my flights so that I leave my Villa by 10:30AM but we have always had someone trying to get us out sooner. If we are able to ,we head out early just because I want the next guest to get in before 4:00PM. I agree that a notice should be placed in all units that late check out is not allowed and you will be fined an extra day at Rack rates for overstaying your time. The money could be returned to DVC membership to defray cost of maintenance. I'm sure people would be more considerate if they thought they would have to pay over $400 more for their extra check out time. Works for me Joan

If our mousekeeper is not in the hall when we check out, we put the tag on the door turned to the "please service" (or whatever it says) side so the mousekeeper will know we have left. I agree that an hourly fee should be charged to those who seem unable to follow rules designed to be fair to incoming guests. I sometimes wonder if mousekeeper errors would be reduced if there were fewer guests cheating mousekeepers out of time they need to do their jobs properly.
ditto!!

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I think this is what was meant by opening a can of worms. Anyway, I must say that many guests who have been able to check in early have started to look at this as a right, rather than a priviledge.

HUH?
Where do you get this idea? We renters (or in my case exchanger) are not the ones with the "entitlement" attitudes. We are not the ones checking out late because we lost our safekeys or had to use the bathroom one last time. And we don't show up at 10:30am to check in to a room that is designated as not being available until 4pm. Sheesh. We wouldn't throw a big fit & demand restitution of our points if we found a hair on the bathroom floor either. Poop, yeah okay. That might cause me to call the manager. But mostly we are just happy to be able to use DVC without the committment of years & years of huge MF.:rolleyes1

And if you are having trouble communicating with the maids, try living in California.

Just so you know, poop is one of the decorative / ambiance features of the AKV ...

And that's one of the reasons DVCers are lined up in droves to be new owners! Much nicer than the older DVC units where poop is only smeared on shower doors.:rotfl: But I understand there are restrictions for balcony use. Trash can only be tossed after dark when the giraffes are sleeping and if you must smoke on your balcony you are asked to do so only when no one else is staying in the building or only if there are hurricane force winds blowing.

This is not a fair statement to make. Before I joined DVC, I rented points to try it out. I did not stay past 11, nor did I try to get the room early. Has anyone considered the idea that it could be several types of people that stay late? It could be DVC owners, it could be people who rented DVC points, it could be people that exchanged into DVC from II, or it could be cash paying people who booked the rooms through CRO. What it boils down to is this: it is a person that does not have respect for the rules (unless they got permission to stay late or had a mishap like the safe key). In regards to checking in early, it is not breaking the rules because if they have the room available, then there is no point for Disney to hold on to it until 4 just because that is check in time, I just didn't have the need to when I rented the points.

For all of the people that think renting points is bad, keep in mind that it is a very good way for a prospect to find out what the joys (and downfalls) of being a DVC owner are. By renting points for just one vacation, it caused me and my family to purchase 350 points. Renting of points can be a good thing as well. Before anyone bashes me for saying that, I do NOT feel that DVC should be used for commercial renting or to turn a profit.

Right, but that's elephant poop, nice and big - noticable. Not the human type that is just a waste of space.

Giraffe poop too ... but I guess it depends on which Savannah View you get. :rotfl2:

I like the ideas of renting a room for an extra night at the beginning of the trip so that it is available early, especially if you are doing a very early flight and have something like MVMCP to attend that night. I almost did this in Dec. but decided we would just wing it and if we got tired early just not stay for the whole evening. As it happened our room was ready when we checked in at 11:30, we got to take a nap and we still didn't stay for the whole evening!

Second, renting for an extra night at the end is also a great idea. It would be great to not have to be out of the room until you are ready to leave. We always try to have a late flight out so we can get in an extra day in the parks.

Now I always go check in early. Not so I can always get my room early, but so I can have it out of the way and go enjoy the parks then call to get my room number after 4 when it is supposed to be ready. That also means that I do not have to wait in a huge line with everyone else that is just getting there and needing to check in. In fact when our room was ready in December I was shocked and thrilled! A little magic right off the bat to start our trip.

One other thing, I do not want mouse keeping knocking on my door or calling my room before 10:55 to see if I am gone yet or when I am leaving. I do not want them to wake me up just in case I was up late the night before and in no hurry to leave my room. I do agree that everyone should be out of their room at 11:00 unless the problem is with bell services. When we left SSR it took them forever to come get our bags and it was about 10:50 when he finally showed up. Talk about cutting it close!

Oh yeah, I wanted to add that I always clean my room before I leave. There is never a huge mess for mouse keeping to clean when we leave. I can not imagine having a huge party and not cleaning it up!
