Didnt want to hijack the “cutting the cord” thread so figured I would ask here.

With PlayStation VUE can you watch your local sports teams live? This is why we have not cancelled cable yet. My do and do are huge Boston sports fans and like to watch all the Celtics, Bruins and Pats games.

Is this possible with this service? It is hard to determine exactly on their website.

Also..have any of you who have it found that you are actually saving money over cutting cable? I’m not sure if it is a good deal or not for us.

By the way, we currently have Spectrum (Charter) because there are no other options for cable companies here.

Thanks so much!

Fro us, yes - we can watch local sports on PlayStation VUE. That is what finally allowed us to cut the cord.

We were actually able to see the full channel line-up on the website somehow (I can see it now without having to log in) - we did have to purchase the second-tier package to get our local sports (it's called CORE I think). They have a 14-day free trial, so maybe that's a way that you can check it out to make sure it has all of the channels that you need.

We also have Spectrum for internet - between our internet bill, PS Vue and Netflix it's about $30-$40 less per month compared to what we were paying for Internet/cable/DVR through Spectrum.

Find out what CHANNELS have the games you want to watch. Are they local channels? Are they networks (TBS, TNT, ESPN, etc). Once you know what channels you want/need, you can find out if a streaming service provides them.

If you watch them via a local sports network you're best bet would be to stay with Spectrum as most streaming services don't carry them and if they do it's very region specific. I have to have cable/sat if I want to watch any of my teams on a regular basis (Fox Sports Florida/Sun Sports).

DH is able to watch all the games he wants, except PAC12 network (which we didn't get through DTV either). We get our local channels on PS Vue as well as all the ESPNs and the local Fox sports network. I think we may even get Big10 and maybe SEC? (I pay no attention to these channels.) I will say that he may pay additional $ during football season for some upgraded package. If your local channels are not available through VUE, you can usually get an antenna for OTA local channels.

Too many variables to make any kind of claim one way or the other. Visit one or both of the websites I posted above and see what you should receive at a specific address.
