Playstation 3 game recommendations?

I purchased a PS3 for my oldest son. We don't do super violent games really, and I'd like to get some good, relatively inexpensive games.
So far, I've got him Lego Indiana Jones 2 (he loves Lego games), a Ratchet game, and I'm thinking of Little Big Planet.

Can anyone recommend some "not full price" good PS3 games?
Thanks.

Little big planet is a great one... if you get the first version it will be much cheaper than the second version and after he finishes it the price of the second might drop down... hard to say though not knowing how old he is.

OOPs! He's 8 - will be 9 in February.

In that case, Little Big Planet would still be a good choice... also any of the lego games that he has an interest in... frankly the Harry Potter lego is probably the hardest of the lot so unless he really like harry potter I would stay away from it... star wars lego is very good as is batman and pirates... not a huge fan of the clone wars... but still you know what movies he likes best so you can use that to pick the best lego game.... Also if you are looking for the cheaper games, the cheapest lego games will likely be the oldest ones like batman and star wars.

I have two words for you: Katamari Damacy (for PS3 it's called "Katamari Forever"). Pretty sure you can get it cheap if you go to any resale shop - not sure what the price for a brand new one is! DBF and I have spent many an hour playing it, and laughing the whole time. You're a little dude with a "katamari" - a ball that picks up everything you roll over. And as you roll, you get bigger and bigger and bigger and can pick up bigger and bigger things.... it's a riot. I thought "oh that's stupid" when DBF bought me the first one for PS2. I was hooked after I tried it; the music is really cool too!

Love it, and there's DEFINITELY no violence. A boy that age could really really like it too!

He has Harry Potter years 1-4 for DS (I think he's finished that one?), and I just bought him 5-7 for his DS today. He has the POTC game for DS as well and has beat it. He's a huge Star Wars fan - but is obsessed with Legos. He doesn't have Lego Batman for DS (other son does) and I was thinking about Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga.

Thanks for your help!

I've never heard of it, but I will definitely look into it. Thanks for the suggestion!

I hadn't heard of it either, but DBF is a hardcore gamer and thought I'd love it. I kept putting off playing it (I like RPGs and platformers) - but once I tried it, it became a staple in our house. It's so quirky and fun; but the box doesn't do it justice.

It gets high ratings on games boards, and is easy and fun. I absolutely recommend it.
