Playa Mia question

Hi all,

We are going on our first cruise in Nov and have decided on Playa Mia for our Cozumel excursion. We are going back and forth over whether to book the DCL version or just book on our own and taxi to Playa Mia. Our main concern with the DCL excursion is it limits you to 4 hours at the resort....that seems a little short. We figured if we taxi over, we could spend at least 6 hours and make it back to the ship with plenty of time. However, there will 14,000 :crazy2: cruise passengers in port that day...does that make it difficult to get a taxi? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

We booked this excursion through DCL last October and loved it - but we had your same hold-out. We felt like we could have spent a lot longer than the excursion-allotted time (hard to know if you are going to love it in advance, though). I wish I had thought to stay longer and simply get our own cab back to port!! There were a lot of cabs in the parking lot. I think DISNEY FANTASY is making that suggestion because, with a lot of ships/people in port, it guarantees you pre-paid entry and a timely conveyance to Playa Mia, but still with the option to stay longer. If we ever go back, I might do the same thing, but you could probably save a little $ doing it on your own.

Are the taxis usually mini-vans for 7 pax, meaning 6 riders? Any idea the cost each way?
