I ordered the Member Platinum Plus Pass for DH and myself back in November or December and plan to begin using it during our Sept. 2018 trip. Today, I added it by the confirmation number to my MDE account so that I can make my FP's in a few weeks. I noticed the following notice in red at the top of a MDE page:

You've successfully added an Annual Pass to your account! Remember to bring your Annual Pass with you when you visit for Passholder benefits. Visit My Reservations to view admission entitlements. If you need help, visit the Ticket section of the Help Center.

So do I receive an actual annual pass at sometime? It's been so long since I originally purchased this, I don't remember if I have to stop at guest relations or what I'm supposed to do. I tried to find an email or something from when I ordered, but no luck finding one.

TIA

You’ll have to activate the pass at a ticket window and verify your eligibility. They’ll give you a card to show for discounts. After you’ve activated the pass, you’ll have an AP magic band order that you can customize and have shipped to your house.

I purchased ours in January, and don't plan to activate until 12/1 or 12/2...I'm wondering if there's anything I need to do in order to do FP's in October....and, if our magic bands will be updated when we activate?

As long as your AP shows up in your MDE account, you should be able to make fasspass for you October trip. If they don't call MS to get them linked.

I think the card you get at Guest Services, to show for discounts is also an actual RFID admission card, too. (My AP card number shows in MDE along with my magic bands)
But I’ve never bothered getting my AP out of my pocket when I’m wearing a Magic Band.

After activating the AP, you can then order your AP magic bands, but any Magic Band or ticket on your MDE can be used for AP admission.

Good thread as we are going tomorrow. So I have to stop at the ticket counter to get them activated even though it is already affiliated to us with the MDE account and assigned? Not a big deal as we at BWV and walk right by the GS anyway but just thought we walk through the gate

New APs must be activated prior to first use. When you stop at either a Park Ticket Window or Guest Relations Location, the CM will enter all pertinent information EXCEPT for the expiration date. Once you actually use the AP for the first time, the system will automatically calculate the expiration date based on first use (this is new).

Renewals by phone also need to be activated prior to use.

Definitely need to activate them. And you will get a discount card to that can also be used as an AP. It has come in handy when one of us accidentally uses the other person's extra MB. So when DH goes through with my MB on, or vice versa, the other can't get in the park with their own MB. We have to get out the AP card for the one that used the wrong MB, so much for biometric scanning of the finger. So for that park visit the FPs have to be scanned using the card for the person with the wrong MB.

Unless they've changed things recently you should have a green exchange certificate that says right on it that you have to exchange it at a ticket window. It also should show in your MDE as you've stated. You should also be able to order your magic band and slider prior to your trip - you should get an email when the time comes.

I bought several passes a few years back and have them in my MDE but also have the certificates to exchange at the parks when I activate them. I last activated one in January of 2018, so someone correct me if things have changed since then.

You carry the ticket they give you to show for any discounts at restaurants and stores. You can also get a magic band that has an annual pass slider for it. Enjoy your trips!

Hmmm, I don't remember anything about a green exchange certificate. I just wrote a confirmation number in my notes in my phone and that is all I remember. I can try to look back through old emails to see if I see anything. I think I purchased it thought a phone conversation with MS, seems like I was advised that some people had trouble purchasing on line - so I just called. I guess something might have come in the mail, but that was a while back and I've moved, had a son graduate from college, a son graduate from high school and have just finished a rough school year, so my memory is shot!

I don’t believe they mail those exchange certificates anymore. We are on our 2nd AP and never got anything in the mail. It was digitally linked to MDE and we got the AP cards when we activated them. Once we returned from our first trip with the AP we had the ability to customize a magic band for our AP (but already had them from resort stays).

We never got the exchange certificate either, and when we went to guest services at the international Gateway we didn’t get the AP card (which I didn’t know about). So make sure to ask for the card when activating your AP’s.

My AP purchases are from 2015, even though I activated one of them this year. They definitely may have stopped sending out the green cards. I bought a number of them at the same time prior to a price increase. But they are still giving out a hard ticket at the window when you check in so that you have it for your possible discounts.

I did get a passholder email this afternoon. It had an offer for a 'bring a friend' ticket good through the end of June. A one day park hopper for $79 plus tax.

When we activated our passes at the Magic Kingdom they did not give us cards. We later had to go to MS for other stuff and we asked for cards and they gave them to us.

We just got back the other day and they didn't give us cards either, I went back and asked for them. I kept the kids cards with me which made it convenient when we get to the gate and one of the kids say "I'm really sorry Dad but I forgot my magicband"...no worry here is your card use that to get in!

My wife use the MDE app to show her proof for AP discount, I found it easier to use the card. The MDE apps ate up my battery and is pretty slow to load.

I have a question. Can AP's be activated at the International Gateway entrance? We are staying at BC and our first night we have reservations at Akershus, so we were just going to go in that way. I hope they can!

APs can be activated at any Park Ticket Window or Guest Relations Location. One or both of those can be found at all park entrances (including the IG), TTC, Disney Springs and the Water Parks.

Yes I just did 6 of them 2 weeks ago at the IG, we stayed at the BWV- if you want your plastic AP card you have to ask specifically for one

THat's interesting. Not sure if I care about having a card or not lol. Probably to keep in my memory box!
