on our next cruise, we will be platinum. Can we each use our free palo for brunch instead of supper? This is also assuming that we each get a free palo (both platinum), or is it one per room?

Unfortunately, the best answer is maybe. DCL website specifies "dinner". For a while they were allowing guests to use the perk for either. Then they started cracking down on it and said dinner only. Don't know what they're doing now.

The dinner is for (from DCL website) "*** Offer includes dining service fee ($25) for one dinner. Available to Platinum Castaway member and Guests staying in member's stateroom. Must be 18 years of age or older."

I read that as one dinner for the room.

When I called and asked, they 'said' I could use it for brunch. I have it booked. So I hope they did not give me incorrect information. You may want to call and ask as well.

Just remember that, typically, the CMs answering the phones have no real idea of how things actually work on the ship.

Hope it works out for you, too.

Wow, that would be a bummer, my wife isn't impressed with the Palo dinner menu. Double bummer about one per room, almost doesn't seem right. The platinum perks really aren't that good anyways, but had hoped we each would get a free palo.

Don't want to speak for Disney, of course...but I can tell you our experience. On our last cruise, we had both brunch and dinner at Palo. Brunch was first, and we didn't even mention we were Platinum. After brunch was over, our waiter informed us that there was no charge because we were platinum. So without our mentioning it they knew it and took care of it. Nice.!

When we ate dinner, we didn't mention it (because we knew it was only good for one meal). After dinner, they again noted we were platinum, and noted that since we had been to brunch at no charge the normal charge would apply to this dinner.

So, at least from our recent cruise, if the policy remains the same as I'm sure it has, Yes you can.

p.s. Yes, it always has been one per room on our cruises. Even if both are platinum, one can't get the free dinner for the whole room once, then the other get a free brunch for the whole room another time. (good try :) )

A case of me misreading it, I thought one of us was free, and the other had to pay. Very happy to hear we both get to eat a free meal in Palo:)

Ah, yes. In fact, the current Disney website says all guests staying in a platinum members stateroom get the free meal at Palo. So even if you were traveling with someone in the same room who wasn't platinum they could share the free meal with you.

Can I ask do you have personal experience of this?

There has been a very long thread about this in the fall where plenty of people reported this.
Yes I read that but up to date personal experiences from platinum cruisers who have first hand experience would be helpful. I personally have sailed platinum and on both my platinum cruises Magic and Wonder was offered the Platinum Palo meal at Brunch and or dinner. We normally go to Brunch first sea day but intend to use the perk at dinner. But the severs always ask us. I think it's hrlpfull that people who have had personal experience post only as otherwise it's hearsay from reading past threads.

I don't agree with you there. While someone who has personal experience only can report that one incidence, someone who reads these boards regularly, will have an overview over many reported experiences. I think an answer that indicates that the reports seem to vary is far more helpful than an answer that one person was able to use the discount. If I know that there have been differing reports, I know to expect inconsistency and will not be disappointed when for me it was different than someone else's experience. Over all the years I have been on the DIS, I found that regularly the information gathered by those who are regulars is far more valuable than one single experience.

And I would disagree with this..When I come to the boards I am looking for first hand experiences and not advice from something they read. If I wanted second hand info then it is simple to use the search button. I personally prefer many single hand experiences rather than one persons knowledge from simply reading about it.. I tend to think that I know a lot on DCL but I would not post about it unless I have done it personally. To each his own though, This is just how I feel about it.

If everyone used the search button before asking a question these boards would have only about 1/10 of the threads being posted here. ;)

I agree with only posting what you know first hand. I have had people argue with me who have NEVER been on a Disney Cruise!! That is how misinformation happens. A person reads a post from someone who sailed years ago and they repeat information since they dont have the first hand knowledge.

When you post to a public message discussion board, you will get all kinds of responses. It is up to the OP to weigh and filter responses, and then determine how to proceed for their own personal situation. First-hand experience has value, but is limited to that one experience at that one point in time and may not be current. Knowledge gleaned by other means should not necessarily be dismissed due to source, and may be more current that first-hand experience from a couple of years ago. Let's keep our minds open and our discussions polite.

True, But when I do post to ask a question that I would not know, I look for recent experiences. Things can and do change so one person posting about what they read about is not necessarily the way that it currently is.. So for me, I appreciate my questions being answered by someone who experienced it themselves.. Trip reports can be a wealth of information too..:)

I hope it works on Brunch. Have one booked for our May Cruise. Don't like dinner as much since the menu changed and want to have dinners with our Daughter. If not no biggie we will still do brunch.

I remember when we sailed the Fantasy this summer I was told only dinner for Palo as the Platinum perk. On previous cruises it was either brunch or dinner that comped us. Sailing again on March 7 so will post my experience on that cruise.
