Platinum Cruise Gifts

I’m going to throw it out again - I wish they would just give a credit to the gift shop.
JMHO, but I can't see putting a brand new item in the garbage. Back when the gift was a black & blue backpack and we were sailing frequently, I gave 2 to my coworkers children, who also had sailed DCL once. If I don't feel like bringing it home, I bring it to dinner with the intention of finding a family of first-timers to give it to. Luckily one such family was right next to our table and they were thrilled to get it.

Personally, I'd wish they'd give Pearl members free laundry service, even if it was limited to 1 bag every 3 days. I just don't need any more material possessions in my life.

Agree. For frequent cruisers - how much of this stuff do I need? I am a similar frequent cruiser on another line and I get free laundry, 2 dinners for 2 one with a bottle of wine, a wine tasting, cocktail seminar and a bunch of discounts and return cruisers party. Did get free internet minutes also in the past. Some of this I use and some I do not all the time but it is better than more bags and towels. I feel that they appreciate me coming back onboard unlike Disney.

Put me in the camp of I don’t need any more stuff from DCL. Maybe they need a way to opt out of the gifts (minus the lanyards) for each sailing.

You can just leave it in your stateroom when you disembark or give it to your stateroom attendant when you first board.
Exactly. I would tell the stateroom host right away so that it’s not viewed as a lost item.

I think part of it is that DCL doesn’t do this as a “rewards” or loyalty program. It’s done for the intention of us going back home and advertising DCL products to our friends, neighbors, coworkers, etc. Therefore they tend to choose products where size doesn’t matter, like it would for t-shirts or hoodies.

I do greatly appreciate the free Palo dinner. That is one consumable gift that we truly enjoy every time.

I used to refuse the lanyards at check-in in the old days but not all agents would allow that. One told me they liked to know my status onboard. Don't know how that would work since I never used one. I do like the new mickey ones though and plan on using them as luggage tags.
***Those old blue and black backpacks were great. It was my husbands go to travel bag for years no matter where we went. We traveled a lot and can't tell you how many times we ran into people using one outside of a Disney cruise. International travel included.
