Well, I confess I'm a bit surprised at the anger that the MH has generated here on the
DVC board; surprised and a bit disappointed. I started looking at DVC when the TPA and Resorts boards got all bitter during the Great AP Discount Debate of 2003. I thought I'd found a bit of a "family" here, what with all the helpful advice and "Welcome Homes" I received. But now I see folks hoping that the MH - which will be attended only by DVC owners - is a failure ("flop"). What next - hoping that SSR gets infested with termites?
I always get a little amazed when I start to see a whole lot of cost-benefit analysis here on the DIS. True, we live in the real world, and few have an unlimited supply of $$$, but let's be honest; there are a lot of other, less costly, options for vacations/timeshares in Central Florida. Most of us here have purchased DVC ownership because of that special intangible that is "Disney Magic". It's hard to quantify; you can take a gross of mouse ear hats, chop them up, and boil them down - you'll never find any Pixie Dust. But there must be something, otherwise why do we all pay a premium for almost everything Disney?
Well, Johnnie F, I hope you're wrong, as DW and I already had plans to be there at that time, and I'll be on the phone Dec 17 to make MH ressies. And as we're eating dessert in Epcot, watching our own Spectromagic and listening to the brass bands as they officially open our home resort, I assure you that we'll feel that it was worth every penny.
A loving couple sharing the Disney Magic - and creating one-of-a-kind memories - of some unexpected special events during our first trip "home"; or two deluded saps, foolishly overpaying for nothing but an advertisement. I guess it's just a matter of perspective and priorities - I kinda like ours better.... :happy1:

PS - JF, I hope that your next few Disney trips are filled with wonder and fun.
