Plans have been filed for DVC expansion at Caribbean Beach Resort

Here this will give you a better look at the set up.

The big red circle is where the DVC tower will go. The second big circle is where the station is assumed to be. My guess is you have the internal bus drop off right by the station as well as being able to walk there. Unless they allow loading at the turn point which is right next to the DVC tower.

I have to believe that the new DVC guests would have access at the tri-corner building vs. having to go all the way to the large rectangular building. It just wouldn't make sense to have to take a BUS to the station. I wouldn't necessarily call that "direct access" to a park.

Also, in taking a closer look at these plans, does anyone think they may ultimately put a second wing in Basin E3? It will be a big chunk of empty land. I know NOTHING when it comes to these things, but it seems odd to put a pond over there. Maybe a "water view" for a future building?

Just for my education, what do the black boxes with thick arrows mean?

What is that square directly to the bottom right of the new tower? Maybe a loading station? Would make no sense to have this system so close to the tower with no way to access it. Asking people to walk or take a bus to a loading station is not direct access - I don't think.
I don't think that has to do with the gondola system but of course I could be wrong.

I think you will find the L shape buildings will have load/unload capability. Not only would you have direct access for CBT DVC but you would have access to boardwalk restaurants etc. and service BW rooms. Also if the L building by the CBT didn't load and unload why not just go from the square CBR building to BW?

The fact that it's completely off the grid - which don't get me wrong I applaud - makes the first 45 Pages of this null and void.

If this indeed happens it does show CBR is a prime location, and what some imagination can do.

I don't think we ever rejected this because I don't think we ever thought of it.

I had earlier said no-one predicted the gondola - but actually I DID!

It was joking, but I did say the new tower would be Brazil themed and would have a gondola ride from the top of the tower down into Epcot! January 26th...

Yep that's awesome-some folks just have more imagination. The pages are not null and void.

Allowing access to multiple hotels greatly limits the ability to limit access to rooms/living spaces...that's a part of this that is still somewhat baffling...is this system "ID controlled"?

Everything saying that they'd dredge a canal or build bridges specifically to get people from Epcot to Caribbean is null and void.

This looks like a link to a new system. That would bring a lot more into play.

No mention of a tower at CBR. Reimagining with additions to the marketplace, center town, and new waterfront dining and retail.

Would it make sense to have the main line going directly from Epcot to DHS? This would provide inter-park transportation. A spur line, possibly connecting at BW (nighttime activities) to the CBR location?

It might but the plans don't indicate that will happen.

With new amenities at CBR I think they sell the DVC as deluxe level. No moderate level DVC anymore as rumored.

This has gone way beyond "I think the location is deluxe"

This is the abandonment of the price categories...up.

When they raise all prices of on-property Rooms, it will allow them to increase all the other prices to correspond...which will price off property out of the compound.

Which will then allow massive employee requirement reductions...

This is "destination: Disney"...a concept that was real but never got off the drawing boards (like thunder mesa or beastly kingdom) that was to be a nearly automated hotel, ticket, and "service" concept. Epcot...in a high cost/low expense way...

This is much more than a Caribbean addition now...if true.

Those are collection boxes for overflow on the new ponds. The arrows show direction of flow from the pond with the highest elevation, to the lower elevation, and inevitably to the distribution swales or culverts that lead to the wetlands across the street.....

I almost think they have to let them load at the turn point to keep the deluxe model going. Otherwise, seems almost everyone else has a better or similar path to the load/unload. See the green. Perhaps they are gonna build a canal, and you can gondola to the gondola (sorry couldn't resist :) ).

Well it is a DVC _Tower_ right? Maybe the load/unload will be on like the third floor of the tower itself

I'm starting to wonder if you actually read any of my post:rolleyes1. Seriously, it's not abandoning anything, this is exactly what I've been preaching for almost 60 pages, but I got blasted for it. The tiered resort categories of deluxe, moderate, and value aren't real. They are nothing more than a marketing gimmick. Disney sets the prices for it's hotels based off of their location and amenities offered and to an extent, what the market will bear. It's nothing new and nothing earth shattering. If you go back and read I've been saying all along, CBR is the most underutilized and prime location on the whole WDW property with its proximity to DHS and Epcot (you should try google earth). I'm perplexed as to why you think they are dredging up all these old plans but they couldn't possibly just upgrading CBR to the deluxe resort it should be in the first place. You were the one who thought they should give AoA access to the parks if they gave CBR access, why is this surprising you?

If anything, I underestimated the scope of the plans. I was stuck on the boat because it was a cheaper and easier method to connect the deluxe CBR to the parks. I was too focused on Epcot and forgot the value of quick easy access to DHS as well. A boat would have connected them but it wouldn't have been as efficient. I give them credit for taking the more expensive and ambitious plan of creating an entirely new transportation system with more upside / potential.

I'm with you completely until the part where the friendship boat is cheaper. Elevation is the problem. All of the potential locations are at different heights, i'm going to wager more than 20 feet.

This post otherwise is right on.

It's a mute point because a boat isn't happening, but elevation is a non-issue. Digging / building a canal deeper / higher would be far cheaper and easier than a whole new transportation system with higher maintenance and labor expenses. It was the added flexibility, increased capacity, and overall upside of the gondola system that won out. It clearly wasn't the non-existent logistical issues of a boat or the cost.
