Planning Weddings for those Not-yet Engaged!

Isn't this a bit...presumptuous?! I mean, I love my boyfriend and I'd say yes IF he asked but he's not going to so I'm not about to start planning our wedding

We're not really planning anything. We were just talking, sharing ideas, etc. I don't even want to seriously think about getting married for another few years, much to my mother's dismay

You couldn't pay me to plan another one, but I'm glad I did it!

I wanted a Disney wedding soooo bad but we just couldn't afford it. So we did a Cinderella themed wedding. Everyone told us it was the best and most beautifully wedding that they had ever been too so we must have done something right. All in all including the dress and location, the whole thing ended up costuing about $7500. I think we did really well considering I ADORED my dress, we used a country club, professional flowers, professional DJ, professional chef caterer, and fed 150 people. The only thing not included in the cost was the open bar. That was $2000 and was our wedding gift from my FIL.

Our whole wedding was based on this figurine, which became part of our cake, as you can see in my avitar

That cake topper is so pretty and I love your avatar. I encourage you to post lots and lots of pictures because it sounds lovely

I'm here girls What stress today...I really can't believe they were allowed to act that way and get away with it. So much for the point system

oh...c'mon...all girls dream of their wedding...whether they are 5, 25 or 50! It's not presumptuous if you've already talked about it... and.. even if you haven't... we probably wouldn't be with our DBFs if we didn't have HOPES of marrying them one day!!!

I'll be the first to admit that I've been dreaming of a Disney wedding since before I even had my first boyfriend. I do have to say though that I am not one of those girls whose only hope in life is to get married and I certainly don't only think about weddings. I figured I should say that since it was brought up in a previous post

btw- my first wedding, I was VERY young (just turned 20) & we eloped. I don't recommend it to anyone young and with a close family. It broke my dad's heart. Just as you have dreams, parents have dreams, also. It is amazing how many dad's have thought of the day their "little princess" with the banged up knees will become someone's wife (and what they will do to the guy who doesn't appreciate her. )& how many mom's have dreamt of helping plan their baby girl getting married.
My second wedding was very small with just family & friends we consider family. The honeymoon was were else? WDW. (i'm older-not stupid-it was a chance to have an excuse to do the "Mouse House." )

Yeah..my dad asked me if I was going to have a 'wedding' this time since he didnt get to walk me down the aisle on my first one...
It's important to them...and I"ll be honest... I'd like to dress all pretty, have pictures to remember and my friends and family around me...

about a month ago my DBF and I joked with our friends that after dropping my kids off at their dads house we went to Idaho and got married..
Oh man his sister and our friends were so excited! But to their disappointment it was only a joke. One that we found funny, but not them!!
His sister is one of my BFFS and we are all very close!
My DS8 & his family would be happy if we were to get married.

I got married at the Courthouse and then went to Olive Garden. We were poor college students with a baby on the way.

I told my dd's if they want to elope, it is fine with me. DH wants to walk then "down the aisle" though.
We will see.......

Ok...can I join in??? I've been married 11 years, but i love planning weddings...espescially trying on dresses,and cake, wine and food tastings!!! i didn't do any of the tasting stuff when I was planning mine, and I feel like I missed out!!!

Now..my imaginary wedding I am now planning.....a Vow renewal at Sunset pointe, followed by dinner at Ohana with Characters and then watching wishes and EWP on the beach at the Poly

I don't think there is anything wrong with dreaming or talking about your wedding. I am not sure why people would freak out. Sometimes people are all uptight about mindless things. Just the way they attack people who get WIC, its not their business how you get things. If you want to dream about your wedding someday, then by all means do it. Its not like you are trying to trap someone into marrying you!!
With that said..........

My dream wedding would be just our families and close friends.
it would include- his parents, his two sisters, his son, my kids, my bff & her family, and a handful of friends that could make it. And a sitter for all of the kids after the wedding.
It would be in Maui, at sunset.
I would wear a beachish style wedding dress, he would be wearing khaki shorts, a white button up shirt.
My bouquet would be pretty Hawaiian flowers.
My flower girls would be his neices, and my Goddaughter.
Our ring bearers would be his son & my youngest son.
My oldest would walk me down the aisle.
My MOH would be my BFF and BM his sister my other BFF.
After the wedding the entire party goes to a Luau and then cake and toast after then kids head back to the room with sitter and we will go out dancing.

I would love to have a Disney Vow Renewal, but then I saw the prices . I decided that instead of the stress of planning another "wedding" I would use the money for a few extra Disney trips to just celebrate our marriage and family! But it sure is fun to dream. Besides I have 2 daughters that are huge Disney Fans so maybe one of them will provide me with a Disney wedding!

BTW the reason this thread insterested me to begin with is because I KNEW I was having some sort of Disney Wedding before my husband ever proposed so I understand what you guys are feeling! It's just fun and exciting and I don't see anything wrong with it at all.
