Planning Our Happily Ever After - A Disneymoon PTR! (NEW 7/13 - TR Link!)

I cannot wear flip-flops. I hate having anything between my toes. The only thing I wear in the parks are my Minnie Jane Crocs! I LOVE them!!! They are soo comfy and I've never had a problem with blisters, swelling, etc. AND they are great in rainy weather b/c they dry so quickly!! :thumbsup2

I've heard only great things about the Teva Mush.
I always wear Reefs in the park, Seasides, the ones with the slightly thicker strap. The Ginger, the thinner strapped kind, is okay for everyday use, but not for the intensity of WDW.
I have extremely high arches and need a lot of support-- and my mom has the same foot type as you. However, we both find the Reef's super comfortable. She wears hers all summer long.
Just in case the Teva's aren't your thing, definitely check out the Reef's!

I completely agree with you about finding shoes that look good with your outfits. Whenever we take so many pics in Disney, it is important to look good. And you just can't put on a pair of tennis shoes with a cute dress!

I have worn Tevas and been very happy with them. The ones I wear have a smaller strap though. Last May, I wore a pair of Sanuks. You can't imagine how comfortable they are. They are made of yoga mat and are incredibly comfy. It'd be worth it to at least check them out. I've had a lot of friends buy pairs after trying mine on.

I also got a lot of use out of a pair of flip flops I bought in the Poly gift shop. I'm one of those people that walk in shoes a long time so that they are worn in by the trip, so it really surprised me that they were so comfortable for walking so many miles!

I can't give you shoe advice because I haven't yet found what works for me on Disney... I always end up with sore feet at some point during the trip.
I have really flat feet as well and I know how hard it can be to find cute shoes that give support!

I'll be interested to hear how the Teva Mush holds up for you in Italy. The pair you picked look great and should work with summer clothes!

Hi! I've seen you post on some other PTRs and had to make my way over to yours!

FANTASTIC wedding date! My anniversary is June 14 (2008), so practically the same weekend. :lovestruc

I love your venue! We had a restored ballroom/church in downtown Dallas that has a lot of the same coloring/features. I'm such an antique-look person, too.

We also went to WDW on our honeymoon, so I'll be happy to share any experiences! I think the GF Spa sounds great! I had a custom cake made at the Contemporary by Brian. He was beyond great to work with and we LOVED our cake! (I don't have any pictures on here but would share them via email! Definitely go check out the cake thread, too.)

Looking forward to more!

Another vote for Croc Capris (the flipflop style Crocs). It's the only flip flop I can wear all day at WDW without major back issues (I have 2 herniated discs).

BTW, yes I've been to Italy. Only Rome, Vatican City, and Florence (very quickly) though. I was lucky enough to backpack through most of Europe when I lived in Dublin. My mom just got back from a 12 day tour and had a blast. She went to Rome, Tuscany, Greve, Florence, Pisa and Venice. Here is the tour company she used:

I can't do flip flops either, or at least, I can't wear any that I've tried so far! I really hope the Teva's will change that though! I seriously would be better off walking Disney in heels than in the types of flip flops I have now. :sad2:

I really need to look in to Crocs...it seems like every single response I've gotten mentions them! :rotfl:

Reefs were another one on my flip flop list. I might need to check out the seasides that you mentioned. It's good to know they work well for you mom if she's archless like me! :thumbsup2

Exactly! I want to look semi-decent in my pictures and it's so hard if I feel like my shoes ruin the outfit. :guilty: That and I just want to be comfortable! I guess that is the most important thing.

I think I've seen a pair of Sanuks before. I remember thinking they looked and felt like a cushion! Maybe I need to try those out too - by the time I'm done here I'm going to have so many pairs of "disney" shoes! Something better work! :lmao:

Well I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who can't find a pair of shoes that work! Although I hate that you have to deal with the sore feet too! Maybe if the Teva's work well for me it would be worth you giving a shot since you have flat feet, too.

:welcome: Thanks for coming over! I'm so glad you can give me some advice about disneymoons! I'm definitely looking for lots of that here! :goodvibes I remember reading about this Brian when I was browsing the cake thread - I think everything I read about his cakes was positive. If I do end up with a cake, I'll have to keep him in mind! :goodvibes

I'm going to check out your PTR now!

I have a bad back, too. :sad2: I didn't even mention that. I have a protruding disk that definitely gives me trouble after standing for long periods of time. I'm just a mess, aren't I?!

How awesome you got to backpack through Europe! I bet you saw some amazing places. :goodvibes How long were you in Dublin for?

mhy mom has a pair of the croc flip flops and i tried them on and i fell in love!! so soft and mold perfectly to your feet!! i dont own a pair but will probably look for my trip next year

Do you know what the name of the flip flops that your mom has is? I think so far I have a vote for the Capris and the Athens. I'd love to know what kind she wears!

Love the purple interior of your luggage! :thumbsup2

ITALY! How wicked awesome!

I have always worn sneakers when at Disney. I'm too afraid to wear any type of sandals/flip flops/crocs with all the walking I do there. I do have the Teva Mush ones and love them. I don't know how well they will do for you if you don't have any arch support. I'm one of those 'comfort before style' people so I don't care if my sneakers don't match my outfit, as long as my feet don't hurt

I have never tried Tevas shoes...wish I could be of more help!! I personally alternate flip fops and tennis shoes. I use the Volatile flip flops. Have you seen those before? They are a little high, but I am a high heel girl.

Does your leg(s) go numb? That's my issue. No major numbness with the crocs. And I also always bring a good pair of worn in light-weight Nikes.

I lived in Dublin for a year. I worked in a rehab for teenage boys. Mind you I was only 21 at the time so they gave me a run for my money. There was a student travel agency down the street from my flat. Every Tuesday they would announce a deal for that weekend. If you weren't picky about where you were going...you'd get amazing deals (like $25 flights). So I got to see most of Ireland and then I went to England, Scotland, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and Greece. Thank GOD I did it then. Since Aisling's been born I've only been to Canada! My passport has really gone to waste the past 7 years!

Love your luggage....how cool is the the purple interior!
You can always put more of that luggage collection on your bridal registry...maybe you will luck out at your shower :yay:

Have fun in Italy, can't wait to see pictures and hear about your trip!

I think you'll really like the Tevas. I have a pair and love them. It seems like crocs are the winner here, but I've never tried them. I just advise against sneakers, especially when it's hot! Sweaty feet, yuck! And if you go on a water ride...yuck. Tevas are the way to go!

I'm jealous! I'm only going to US and San Diego. /pout. Haha I hope you have a great trip! I know it's going to be awesome!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so excited for you and would love to see pictures of the trip!

I think you've got the right attitude - comfort should definitely be the most important thing! I just wish there was a shoe out there that was both comfortable and cute, you know? I'm glad you like the Tevas, though! :thumbsup2 I'm still waiting for mine to come in!

I have never tried Tevas shoes...wish I could be of more help!! I personally alternate flip fops and tennis shoes. I use the Volatile flip flops. Have you seen those before? They are a little high, but I am a high heel girl.

I've been told that I need a little heel for walking because of how flat my feet are. I need to check out the ones you mentioned! And it sounds like a lot of people do the alternating - I'm thinking that must help a lot. Do you just change them out consistently (like one day flip flops, one day sneakers...) or do you just choose them based on your mood/outfit for the day?

Does your leg(s) go numb? That's my issue. No major numbness with the crocs. And I also always bring a good pair of worn in light-weight Nikes.

My legs don't go numb, it's mostly just in my back. It's my lower back to be exact. If I stand for long periods of time my lower back aches so bad that the only way to relieve it is to bend over and touch my toes. :confused3 I'm sure I look ridiculous just randomly bending over to the ground at Disney! :lmao:

Wow! $25 flights?! It would be so nice if we had something like that here. What a great opportunity!

I really hope these Tevas work for me! They're supposed to be here Monday! :woohoo:

Oh, I'll definitely be sharing lots of pictures! :yay:

BIG NEWS

As the title of my post suggests, I’ve got some BIG news! And I’m so excited to finally be able to share it with you. I’ve been keeping a teeny-tiny secret. I promise though, I had a good reason!

You see, Miguel and I’s next time in Disney will not be for our June 2011 Disneymoon. Instead, our next trip is going to be...

THIS NOVEMBER!!!

Now, before I tell about our plans, let me explain how this trip came to be, and why I’ve been keeping it a secret until now!

I knew that it was going to be really hard to wait a year and a half between our engagement trip this past January and our Disneymoon in June to return to the world. I was actually hoping for an October, Food and Wine weekend getaway before we even left the world in January, but my new job kind of squashed that idea. You see, our vacation time does not run from January to December like most people’s. Instead, our vacation year is from July 1st to June 30. Because I am a new employee, I was not able to take any vacation for 90 days (Normal), so when my vacation window opened, I would already be into the next vacation year – the year that would include our 10 day Disneymoon. (Plus my 2 week trip to Italy that they are so graciously letting me take – I really do have a great job!)

So it seemed that another 2010 trip to Disney was not in the cards. I didn’t want to use up my precious vacation time and take it away from the time I would need for our honeymoon. But then I stated to think about Thanksgiving…I would already have 4 days off, and could probably spare one additional day (or two :rolleyes1) of vacation time to give us enough time to make a quick trip down to Disney. I talked it over with Miguel, but he was hesitant about it, thinking he probably could not get any more time off this year.

I quickly checked our dates and saw when our ADR day would be and found that we had about three days to make up our minds! I decided that, even though we weren’t sure we could have the time off, I should go ahead and book (mostly to be able to make our ADR’S)!

And so I called on a Thursday, and Friday night I got online and booked our ADR’s! I was actually able to do them one day early! :thumbsup2 It was quite the whirlwind! I decided not to make an announcement until we were positive that we would in fact be going! To start off with this trip was very much a hypothetical. I'm constantly saying to Miguel...let's go to Disney! Of course most of those trips never happen - so I didn't want to put too much hope into this one. Also, I figured I wouldn’t have enough stuff to fill a PTR for the November trip for 5 months, so I thought I could just tie it in to our Disneymoon PTR if we did end up being able to go.

So, I’m finally able to announce our trip because we’ve just found out that it is official: we’re going to Disney in November!!! We were both able to get the Monday and Tuesday after Thanksgiving off of work!

We will be returning to the world for a short, 5 night trip Thursday, November 25 thru Tuesday, November 30. We’ll be leaving after lunch on Thursday so that we can at least have Thanksgiving lunch with the family. We’ll be driving home on Tuesday, so that will leave us with four, action packed days in the parks! It’s definitely a short trip, but we’re just excited to be going back to Disney before June! I’ll reveal more of the details about this trip in a later post! I hope you don't mind if I use this PTR for this November trip as well!
