We are new DVC members - 250 points at SSR. I am in the process of planning our first trip "home" to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary in early September. Just a couple of questions...

We are staying at SSR, but I want to see all of the DVC resorts at WDW (I want to see what we bought.) If we take a bus from SSR to MGM, can we walk to BWV? If so, how long is the walk?

Also, I want to purchase annual passes and the DDE card. If I purchase the AP's now, can I buy the DDE at the same time?

Thanks for all of the help! BRING ON THE WELCOME HOME'S!

WELCOME HOME !! I hope that DVC will bring you as much happiness as it has brought our family. We own at both BWV and BCV. The walk from MGM to BC or BW is very pleasant. It is about 15 minutes to BWV (and that is with a 12 year old who drags her feet). We have even beat the boat on several occasions. Have fun !!

In addition, after you visit BWV, you can take a 5 minute walk around the lake to BCV to check them out - and have an ice cream break at Beaches and Cream.

Welcome Home!

You need to order your annual passes (or at least one) first and have it mailed to you. The annual pass does not start until you activate it onsite, but the voucher will have the number you need to order the DDE card. Try to order your DDE card as close to your trip as possible to correlate the dates with your annual pass. It does take a while to get the DDE card, so I am not sure if it is a good idea to order the DDE card early to get the card. What they will do is fax a letter to member services at Epcot and once you pick that up, that is as good as the card. You'll just receive your card for your next trip.

We ordered the DDE card the week before we were leaving and picked up the letter. We had no problems using the letter. We rec'd the card 3 weeks after our trip.

First, welcome home. Since we only go once a year, i haven't paid much attention to the AP. What is the DDE card?

Welcome Home! Congrats!
Be sure to check out OKW since you'll be staying so close! You could grab the boat to OKW from DTD while you're there. It'll take you straight to the Hospitality House, the pool, Olivia's, etc.
Have fun!

Welcome Home! Of course you can't leave without seeing VWL. A boat ride from the MK would be a snap.

ddave - the DDE card is "Disney Dining Experience" which gives a 20% discount at several restaurants in WDW. You can only get the card if you are a annual passholder and pay $50.00 extra for DDE.

Thanks to everyone for the wonderful suggestions. I have written them all down and plan to visit ALL of the resorts.

THIS IS GREAT! If only September were closer...
