My brain is sort of scrambled trying to understand and figure this all out.

The boyfriend and I will be heading down to Disney and staying on property, alone, for the first time. Prior to this, we've flown with my grandparents and rented vehicles. Because both the boyfriend and I are under 25 and do not have valid drivers licenses yet, renting a vehicle isn't an option for us. But that's okay, because Disney does shuttles from MCO! :D (You have NO idea how happy that made me.)

However, I'm pretty confused as to how this all works. I know we need to do some stuff in advance, but what? And as for luggage tagging, do you still need to tag luggage if all you are bringing is a carry-on bag?

You need to sign up for Disney's Magical Express. You can do this online at https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/reservations/dme/index?bhcp=1 or just call Disney Magical Express at 866-599-0951. They will ask you for your resort reservation number, airline, and flight numbers (arriving and departing). You will get a book with vouchers for the bus and airport luggage tags. You only use the tags if you plan on having Disney handle your luggage. When you use this service, you check your bags in with your airline, then they "magically" arrive in your room about 3 hours or so after your flight. For carry on, you just wheel your luggage to the ME bus and the driver will place in the bus cargo area. It is customary to tip $1-2 per piece of luggage.

ME is really fun with a Welcome video and Disney cartoons to get you in the mood. You'll love it.

Hi, I have a ME question. I made reservations (over the phone) yesterday for our trip in October. Should I be able to see it in My Disney Experience? I can see resort and dining reservations.

If you call Magical Express directly to make reservations, then this might not show up in My Disney Experience.

Keeping your bags with you all the time, and collecting bags from the carousels, works all the time with DME when you do not use the yellow DME tags.

Optional (all airlines when you arrive before 10 PM). You can have DME deliver bags directly to your resort room so you do not need to go to the Orlando airport carousels. Bags should get to your room within 3 hours of when you can, but you are not expected to go there and wait for the purpose of tipping the bellhop.

Optional (just a few airlines, and homebound flights after 8 AM). You can check bags at your resort so you do not need to handle them again until you get to your home airport.

Remove and discard the yellow DME tags (and also any old white baggage tags) before going home.

If you miss your DME bus to go home, then the world ends. Shoot to be back at your resort an hour before the time on your confirmation sheet, normally delivered to your room morning of the day before the day you go home. You need to be out on the platform 15 minutes in advance. Be sure to identify the correct platform, for example by observing DME buses on previous days.

So my Magical Express shows up in MDE only on my laptop, not on my iPhone. It doesn't have a number or any info. Just says Airport Transportation : Magical Express.

I noticed at Caribbean Beach last Saturday a Disney cruise line bus was used. Literally ready to pull out when a bell hop asked about their time to board, told the ladies that was the ME back to the airport. They would have missed it if the hotel personnel did not ask them.
