I'm trying to get a meet together for my first ever trip to Disneyland on July 17 2009. I want to be there to celebrate Disneyland's 54th Birthday.
I expect the park to be jam-packed and possibly closed to guests at mid-day.
Do you think this will be the case? Also, can you register for the tours, specifically "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" early? I'm sure it will sell out for that day.
I'm not staying at a hotel, nor will I be renting a car.
I've been to WDW countless times and worked there in 2005 and 2007, now in the year of "What will you celebrate?" I'm making it to Disneyland!
Thanks for your help.

Yes, it is the anniversary and it will attract people who are Disneyland fanatics, but since Disney doesn't do much to pump up the significance of the day, I would be surprised if the Park reached capacity. Add to it that it's a Friday so you will get after work local APers, but it's not a weekend.
