I'm trying to get a meet together for my first ever trip to Disneyland on July 17 2009. I want to be there to celebrate Disneyland's 54th Birthday.

I expect the park to be jam-packed and possibly closed to guests at mid-day.

Do you think this will be the case? Also, can you register for the tours, specifically "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" early? I'm sure it will sell out for that day.

I'm not staying at a hotel, nor will I be renting a car.

I've been to WDW countless times and worked there in 2005 and 2007, now in the year of "What will you celebrate?" I'm making it to Disneyland!

Thanks for your help.

Why would you expect the parks to be closed to guests by midday? I can't say I have ever read the park being at capacity on a non holiday summer day.

It won't be as packed as you are expecting because we, as humans, are funny about numbers ending in 0 and 5 54 is not something people get excited about. :upsidedow Yes, it is the anniversary and it will attract people who are Disneyland fanatics, but since Disney doesn't do much to pump up the significance of the day, I would be surprised if the Park reached capacity. Add to it that it's a Friday so you will get after work local APers, but it's not a weekend.

You CAN reserve tours in advance. Call Disneyland directly to do so. 714-781-4000.

Yay for making it to DL. I am the reverse of you. I have been to DLR countless times and made it to WDW in October. It was exciting - and I am sure your trip will be too!

I too don't think the park will be at capacity on the 17th. Unless DLR does something really amazing for their 54th anniversary, but I don't think they will.

Since it's a Friday it will be more crowded than M-Th, but I think you'll be fine.

As far as I know, the park rarely closes due to capacity issues, so I doubt that will happen. Personally, I think summer is a great time to go because the hours are long and they have everything running. Are you just going for one day? If so, you should have a plan of what is most important for you to see. I recommend more days if you can. :goodvibes
