Planning Journal: YC Gazebo/Portobello~MINI-TRIP REPORT ON PAGE 3!

Thanks so much for the positive comments. I'm feeling a little better now, but am still frustrated by my inability to find what I'm looking for. Basically, I'm looking for a full length, strapless, slip; like a regular half slip that you would wear under your skirt but hiked up to just over your bust and long enough to reach your knees. I've tried endless search terms on google and apparently they don't make the darn things anymore. I even found an ebay listing (that recently closed, of course). This is what I'm looking for. Notice it even says "vintage" because "they don't make 'em like they used to." :goodvibes

The good news is that I'm leaving in a few minutes to take my dress to a seamstress to see if she can finagle some sort of lining for the dress. Keep in mind that I'm TWENTY days out, so this would likely have to be a rush. I don't mind, as long as she can do it!

I really didn't think it was going to be that big of a deal to find something to wear under this monster. I guess the traditional slip is "out" and the tight, slimming, "control top" slips are in. Wish me luck! :)

Good luck!! I'll be sending lots of pixie dust your way that the seamstress can work something out!

I'm getting so excited for you!!! It will all be beautiful and perfect!

Decided to stop harping on the wedding dress situation and focus on the things that I think are going well. Here's what I have so far.

Centerpiece (We don't really need centerpieces, since we're just having our luncheon reception at the Portabello Yacht Club. But I thought I'd put *something* on the table, and make it edible even, since DF and I will be taking pictures and our guests will be waiting on us for at least twenty minutes. Plus, it was an excuse to buy a lot of purple M&Ms! :thumbsup2)

These are all my prototypes; I'm actually going to finish them off this weekend. Do you guys have any suggestions? Thanks!

Everything looks so Good!!! Love your purple M&Ms!!! Good luck with everything! :thumbsup2

I realized I forgot to update everyone that yes, I finally found a slip, thus ending the dress drama! Many, many thanks to luvsmickey, for telling me that David's Bridal had just what I was looking for. :yay:

As I was thanking Day, I realized that without this board, my wedding would not be what it is. I mean that literally and sincerely. I thought it only proper to thank people personally and demonstrate how much this board really does help people (even when you don't realize it!!).

Thanks to:
luvsmickey, for the slip (seriously, you have NO IDEA how freaked out I was! thanks so much!)
princessidsneybelle, for looking over my program and offering comments
KT27, for the idea of a blue Mickey toe ring as my something blue (I feel if I thank people, it won't seem so much like stealing their fabulous ideas, :rotfl: )
Maggimus, for sharing her idea of doing photos with Randy after the wedding, at other settings than just the ceremony site
mary626, for the fabulous trip journal she did (the first that I read, and what made me really, really excited to have a DFTW)
myprincessgirlisa, for recently showing me that thread with all the ridiculously cool tips and tricks (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=311217) AND for starting the "fit for the fairytale" thread and keeping everyone motivated for so long
StepSFL, for recommending CRT as a place to have lunch with DH
everyone who wrote a planning journal or trip report, for taking time out of your busy schedules to share with us all the ups (and occasionally downs!) of having a DFTW.
everyone who offered tips, advice, or support, to anyone, not just me, because seeing how we all support each other is what makes the disboards so great (and unusual, in my opinion)

Thank you all! :goodvibes

P.S. Yes, it is getting pretty close to the wedding so yes, I'm a teeny bit emotional right now. :lmao: And if I left someone out, I'm so sorry!

Christine that was a very sweet thing to do. I can't believe you are so close. I know you will be a beautiful bride. I can't wait to see all of your pics and hear all about it.

Oh and thanks for being one of my Dismaids.

I love your M&M's! The only suggesting is maybe adding a little note tag to them.

Hey, I am about 9 months out, and I have already had one or two little meltdowns! I think I will strangle my daughter before we find her a dress that we both agree on!

I guess this will be one of my final updates before the big day! :cool1:

At two weeks out (this past Monday), I finalized the date and time with Randy and Anna. I also got the final, final BEO from Juliana. I was pleased to see that everything was correct. :thumbsup2

My office had a shower for me late last week. Well, not really a shower (as the idea made me uncomfortable since I just started my job two months ago and really only know my team, not the entire office). We all went to a Chinese restaurant and they were nice enough to get me gifts. I only mention it because they gave me some Disney Dollars (which DF thinks is AWESOME and I have to agree) and (and this is the cool part) original artwork by Ducky Williams. Have any of you guys heard of him? I guess he does art for the Disney cruise and all of the Disney promotional marketing stuff. My boss's husband works with him at Disney. I didn't even realize the guy was "famous" until my boss told me to google him. Very nifty. And on top of that, the drafting table he used was one of the original ones used by the Disney animators to draw Bambi and other such early films. How fun is that?? Anywho, here's the drawing.

Oh, and here's a pic of DF and me at the shower. Awww.

While I'm sharing random pics, here is the luggage that I got for DF as a wedding gift. Notice who's on the front. :cutie:

MickeyLuggage.jpg

And finally, here's what we finally decided on to wear during the Disneymoon (neither DF nor I really liked the male version of the Mickey wedding ears so we compromised on this one from David's Bridal).

Hats.jpg

Our officiant is coming over tomorrow night for dinner and to practice our vows. I haven't decided if I should post my vows. I really like them, but I haven't really seen vows posted here ever so I'm thinking maybe it's not done? :confused3

Anywho, we're so close! I'm getting excited! :cloud9:

:sad1: To tell you the truth ive missed half of this planning report. I swear there are so many going on right now I cant keep up!! I want to tell you that you look beautiful in your dress-- its perfect for you, your invitations are adorable and you and your DF are totally adorable together (and the other comments arent as important but this one definitely is). I hope that you have a day filled with fun, magic, excitement, butterflies, you name it! Tell Randy that I said hello-- and you will certainly be the most beautiful bride in all of Disney World (as if you arent beautiful already!).

Your big day is almost here !!! I am so excited for you. You will have to come back and share ! As you DFTW bridal "twin" I have to know how everything goes !!

By the way...another similarity I saw on another thread we are both posting to is that I too am doing a silk bouquet ($75 upcharge) rather than a refresh and preservation ! We needed to put our heads together months ago !!

Have a great time and can't wait to see your pictures and read your thread upon your return. Pixie dust to you !! :wizard:

Christine, I am leaving for WDW tonite so I wanted to wish you all the best and congratulations! I will be thinking about you that day, and if we are at Epcot I might drag DBf over to the Yatch Club for a peek! :rotfl:

Oh and as my former career twin I wanted to tell you: I got a promotion!

I love that both my bridal twin and my career twin posted right after each other! That's fantastic! :thumbsup2

Congrats to you, curiouser on your big, bad promotion (I sent you a PM as well) and if you happen to be at the Yacht Club around noon on Monday, please please stop by! That would be so much fun! Well, if DF's family is behaving, of course! :rotfl2:
SWMHC, I'm so glad I'm going with the silk flowers as well. I'll have to let you know how they turn out. Actually, that's another person I forgot to thank on the other page: whichever bride posted that on her planning journal. I would've had NO IDEA otherwise. Plus, I'm a little weird anyway in that I don't like getting flowers. When they die, I get ridiculously meloncholy. :sad1: DF has been trained well to bring chocolates or *plants*, which don't die as easily!

We're back! And we're married! (duh)

I won't do a full trip report until we get the formal pics back from Randy, the honeymoon shoot, and the MK photo shoot, but I thought I'd give you some details until then.

The weather on the day of the wedding was beautiful. A little warm for my tastes, but I'm always warm, so I don't think I count. Except for a few minor glitches (which I'll share in more detail in the full trippie), the wedding went well. Juliana was very nice and very organized (for the most part! :thumbsup2 ).

TheKiss.jpg

The reception at Portobello's went great. There was only one other table there, so the waitresses were very attentive and very interested in the wedding. Everyone enjoyed the food (Except for the ladies, who unanimously proclaimed the potato salad to be "weird." What they meant was, it wasn't cooked like they do theirs! :rotfl: ). They offered us both lunch and dinner menus, though almost everyone chose lunch. Very nice overall.

Highlights from the Disneymoon: the Segway tour, the tours in general, staying on Disney property, trying new restaurants, and the PhotoPass CD (we actually got to both be in some of the pictures for once!).

Canada.jpg

Lowlights: me getting heat stroke or something that left me feeling nauseated and dehydrated on our first full day, me initially being sad over the lack of pixie dust (I knew that I *shouldn't* have expected over-the-top fabulous things to happen, but I couldn't help it!), the hoardes of ill-behaved high school students, and our inability to get a hotel room on Friday night because ALL THE ROOMS ON DISNEY PROPERTY WERE BOOKED. All of them! And it wasn't even peak season! How crazy is that?

Tink3.jpg

(I should've been happy with this amount of pixie dust, which I learned by the second day and loosened up a little!)

See ya in a few weeks! (Don't worry, I'm an avid journal keeper on vacations, so I won't forget a single detail!)

Welcome back and CONGRATULATIONS!!! :yay: Your mini-report had me glued, I can't wait to hear the rest popcorn::. I hope it was everything you wished for and more (minus the "glitches") :goodvibes.

purplegirl247- YOU LOOKED AMAZING! Congrats. I just can't wait to hear your trip report!!!!!! Best wishes on your happily ever after!

happily ever after is what I wish you and your hubby! I just found your planning journal (sorry)! you look absolutely lovely and it sounds like you had a great time once you relaxed. you know, that's just really the whole stress letdown which happens after most huge events that you are so looking forward to. quite a normal reaction ..:goodvibes

I'm looking forward to reading your report , especially the Segway tour , which looks totally fun!! I think maybe I'd love to give that a shot - but I'll read your story first!

welcome back
