Hurray! I called today and booked our campsite for August next year. We'll be driving from New York with our hybrid in tow. We're staying 12 night at WDW. We are regular campers, but have never driven to WDW or camped there. Any suggestions? I can't wait!! :cheer2:

Congratulations!

We are doing the same thing! We think that we will be leaving NEPA Friday August 3rd and getting as far as we can down the road and finding a truck stop to spend the night in. We usually just find a place to sleep for the night. Not sure if you can sleep in your trailer without setting it up.

Then we will have all the next day to drive. I havn't tripped it with with DH yet but I was thinking about getting a campsite at South of the Border. I read on here somewhere that their sites are only $18. That will give you, as they call it heir conditioning for the night.

Then I found out there is a Flying J truck stop in St Augustine that allows overnight sleeping also. My concern here is how how it will be without heir conditioning.

Our first night camping is Monday August 6 for 12 day!!!!

I think am going to get 6 day park hopper and more passes that give you 5 extras. Our last evening we are going to to the Hoop De Doo Review. Then we will pick up and get ready to roll in the morning. It is a long drive home!

Hope his helps!

Living in northeast Florida you will find the truck stop very hot and humid for august. I drive by it every friday on my work route. There is no shade at all. At state road 207 exit, one exit north of the truck stop is a campground about 2 miles to the east with plenty of trees and shade. If you need electricity you might try there.

Thanks for the info Jim! I will definately look into that campground. We will be tired from the drive, so we should look into getting a good nights sleep before we get there.

Thanks again!

Our plan is to leave here around 5:00am and drive to Waterboro, SC, where we will sleep for the night. DH found an RV park where we can park, sleep, shower, and be off the next day for the remainder of the trip. :)

Jim, I found that campground and it is just perfect! :thumbsup2 We will be leaving on Friday night and getting a few hour down the road. It won't be too hot to sleep in our TT at night up here.

Our first night camping will be at South of the Border. That is 467 miles from out house but it will be an easy drive for DH (who used to drive truck and does not stop unless it is for fuel) :goodvibes since he will probably do half of that Friday night.

We can get up and do a leisurely drive to St. Augustine that is only another 300 miles.

That will leave us 122 miles to Disney on Monday morning. We can't get there too early because check in isn't until 1:00.

Thanks a lot for that info!

marybrat, did you check your mileage? :confused3
That looks like a long way for the first day! It is none of my business but I don't want you got get overwhelmed the first day! :car:

I agree it's a long way. My husband wants to leave bright and early. He's another one that won't stop except for gas. Luckily we drive everywhere and the kids are used to being coped up in a car. Of course, the best laid plans...
We'll just see how it goes. I like your idea of leaving Friday night and driving for a bit. Hmmm.

Official check in is at 1:00 PM...However, you can check in at anytime provided they have a site available. We just went in August 2006, and checked into our site at 6:30 in the morning....

Leaving on Friday is something to think about! You could at least get into Pennsylvania and give you a lot lighter day on Saturday. Less to worry about.

We get to antsy to sleep so we just get packed up and leave. The driving is a lot lighter at night too.

Otherwise your looking at almost 15 hours of driving in one day. That is a long day. You will have to set up in the dark. If you need any more excuses, just let me know, I am full of them! :rotfl2:

JPG - Thanks for the info! I know it was in the morning the last 2 times we checked in too but not that early! I wonder if you show up early you get the best spots? :woohoo:
