So Ive come over to say hi and get some info

I have lots of questions if anyone can help

We are looking at either a november 08 or march 09 ceremony

Here goes with the questions,

Is it best to book through a travel agent or direct with disney? (I am in the uk)

There are exactly 18 of us, is it best to custom or intimate?

Are you able to book an evening party or meal after the wedding?

How far in advance can I book?

Are there any honeymoon treats I can book?

any good hints or tips for a newbie?

thanx again anna

Hi Anna

Welcome and congrats on your upcoming Wedding :cheer2:

I am also a UK Bride so if you have any specific questions I will see if I can help.

1. Is it best to book through a travel agent or direct with disney? (I am in the uk)

I booked direct through Disney for the Wedding while I went with a Travel Agent for everything else, the company I used (Tradewinds) does not offer Disney weddings :sad2: It is slightly cheaper to go through a Travel Agent, but I actually prefer the direct approach through Disney, you cut the middle man out!

2. There are exactly 18 of us, is it best to custom or intimate?

You can go for an Intimate up to 20 people (including the bride and groom), with Intimate the choices are less, I understand that with a Custom you get loads more choices but there is a min spend!

3. Are you able to book an evening party or meal after the wedding?

Yes, you can book this. For custom loads of brides go for the Illuminations in Epcot, I'm having an Intimate so I can't get this :furious: I'm sure the custom brides could help you out on this tho. I on the other hand am just booking myself with the restaurant of my choice, Victoria and Alberts is mine :lovestruc

4. How far in advance can I book?

I was told it was 12 months but I recently heard 18 months.

5. Are there any honeymoon treats I can book?

I am booking the couples massage at the spa at the Dolphin, I'm sure I'll think of much more things nearer the time tho.

6. any good hints or tips for a newbie?

Read these forums like they are the bible, they are a godsend :thumbsup2, If you're unsure of anything, just ask. It can be stressful planning a Disney Wedding so feel free to vent at anytime. But, remember it's your wedding day, so have fun planning it!

Congrats! We live in Canada not UK . We didn't plan our wedding thru travel agent. We did it with disney wedding coordinator.

Have you checked out disneywedding.com ?

I think that regardless of having your coordinator, you do have to research a lot yourself , so that you will have an idea how much it will cost , how things will be done.

hiya

can you tell me more about the illuminations one as I cant see it on the wedding site

Hi Anna!!

Im having a custom wedding in several weeks! i booked direct through disney as i found them easier to deal with than a travel agent!

I was originally going for a march wedding but i went for early december so we could have all the christmas decs up!! so exciting i cant wait!

If you have a custom, you can have a full reception afterwards, including a meal and DJ etc! With an intimate you can book a meal in one of the restaurants!

If you have any questions feel free to pm me!! i would ahve been totally lost with out this board when planning my wedding!

You can have an Illuminiations Desert Reception @ Epcot with an Intimate too! You just can't have as many people. You are only allowed to have 18 guest (20 including the bride and groom). If you'd like more info on an Illuminiations Desert Reception, go to the disney weddings website and click on the Custom weddings. Then go to Receptions and look. There are different locations for this, Intimates are only allowed either Japan or Moracco. Customs can have the rest of the locations. Intimates include most of everything in the price and Customs have a min. of $10,000 you have to meet. Which ever one you choose, I'm sure it will be great! :sunny:
