Planning a Disneymoon is Way More Fun Than Planning a Wedding...My First PTR

I am a little worried about my honeymoon registry card. It STILL hasn't come in the mail:confused3. I called the disney honeymoon registry people and they said that I can re-order the card and they will activate it for me (instead of making me wait for another two weeks). I decided to call again on Tuesday if it still hasn't come in the mail. It has been almost four weeks. Isn't that weird?

Honestly- mine took FOREVER like a month. it just randomly showed up one day. We live in AZ... you know the heat it does crazy things to the mail :)

Hey Kira,

I was at Pop the same time you were, except I was in the building with Mowgli and Baloo on the arm that reached all the way towards the 70s building. I kept hearing your mom saying you were working on a PTR and I finally found it! I got a bag from ebags, which looks like a normal purse, but it had all these pockets and zippers. Boy I'm still find things I put in that bag for Disney!

Can't wait to hear more about your wedding and more importantly your Disneymoon!

:welcome:. Glad to see you here! That is neat we were at pop at the same time :goodvibes Wasn't the heat and the bus service just awful? I liked the resort, though. They had a nice gift shop and a huge food court.

That sounds like you have a nice bag. The new bag I got for Disney has only one zipper :sad1: It should be able to hold a lot of stuff, though. I think that we will bring that little bag and a camera bag into the parks. I will also probably bring my tigger/pooh AK tiger bag as my "personal bag" to the airport. If we need to bring a larger bag into the parks, that might work (but I doubt I will bring it into the parks).

Weird. They say 7-14 days. It isn't hot here...or really cold. I don't understand why it would take so long. I just hope my bride ears don't take this long to get here :goodvibes

So I officially received my bride ears in the mail! The veil was torn on the edge, though. It looks like the manufacturer didn't cut the veil right. The edges all line up except where the veil is torn (that part is longer). I am surprised the Magical Memories store didn't catch that. I will post a picture of it later (my DF took the camera to work :confused3). It is an easy fix, though. I will just cut the veil so that the edges all match up.

I also got a tiara that matches the veil (my actual veil, not my disney veil ). I will post a picture of this later, too. It has a floral design that matches the veil, and little sparkles that match the ones on the dress. I think it really ties the dress and the veil together. This is important to me, because the dress and veil don't exactly "match". We got the veil at a wedding expo for around $20. It doesn't clash with my dress, but it doesn't match perfectly either. The dress has no floral design or pearls (just sparkles and beading). The veil has pearls and some beaded flowers. The tiara has pearls, flowers, and sparkles that match the ones on the dress. Problem solved :goodvibes

I STILL haven't received my honeymoon gift card in the mail. I called disney and got it reissued. I think I know what happened. The cast member asked me if I wanted to have them register the card so that guests could put funds onto the card. I expressed concern that if someone else got a hold of the card then they would have access to my funds. She told me that they send it out as certified mail so that someone has to sign for it. I told her to register the card. Anyway, I think that the card came while I wasn't home. They must have left a note or something on my door that got destroyed by the weather (I didn't get any message from anyone. I even tried calling the leasing office to see if it got sent as a package). The old card is probably waiting for me at the post office. I will try to pick it up later and let you all know if this is what happened. Despite what happened to the old card, I have a new one coming in the mail. I will be sure to check the post office if it doesn't come in by the end of March :rotfl:

Can't wait to see pictures of all of this. Glad the problem with the veil is an easy fix.

I hope you actually get your Disney GC soon!

Thanks! As long as the GC gets here before the wedding, I will be happy :rotfl:. My DF came home for lunch and brought me the camera. I am working on the pictures right now :goodvibes

When I got back from grocery shopping today, I found a tiny piece of paper carelessly shoved in between my apartment door and frame. It was from the post office, telling me that tried to deliver my GC:. Gee thanks, guys. No wonder I didn't receive the first card :rolleyes2. I will pick it up tomorrow and post pics.

Speaking of pictures, I am a little bit behind. Here are some pictures of honeymoon things I have bought in the last couple of weeks.

These are dresses I bought on sale. I am pretty sure I will wear the pink one on the trip (assuming I can find a pair of cute, comfy shoes to go with it ). I don't know about the black one. It seems a bit long. Maybe I'll wear it to Boatwrights?

Here is a picture of a Perry the Platypus shirt I bought for Josh. Surprisingly, he has worn it out in public. He seems to really like it  We both love Phineas and Ferb btw.

I know it isn't honeymoon related, but I thought I would share. Josh and I went to a reptile expo a few weekends ago. We couldn't help ourselves, and ended up getting another mouse and a California King Snake. We named the snake Tux and the mouse Mortimer. Get it? Mortimer? :rotfl:

The wedding is coming up so fast!

So my bridesmaids and I went to David's Bridal yesterday for a dress appointment. I wasn't really picky about bridesmaid dresses. I wanted them to wear a short dress in apple (David's Bridal color) and I wanted them to match. That was it. Unfortunately, my bridesmaids were picky. Even though I had picked out a few styles beforehand, asked each of the girls individually what looked best on them, and decided the length of the dress (short), the whole thing was kind of a mess . One of the bridesmaids kept running around the dress shop, grabbing new dresses. Another bridesmaid was unhappy with any short dress (even though I had told her beforehand that I wanted them to wear tea-length dresses). They all have about the same dress size, but subtle differences in their body types. For example, my future sister-in-law is very short. Some of the short dresses looked like they were meant to long dresses on her (but were a few inches too short). Another bridesmaid is very tall. Some of the long dresses were too short on her, while my future sister-in-law was dragging a foot of fabric on the ground. Two of the girls are busty, two of the girls are not. Almost every dress we tried on 3 out of the four girls loved it and then the fourth one hated it. It took us four hours to decide on a bridesmaid dress! I felt so bad for the David's Bridal consultant (especially when my bridesmaids raided the shoes and threw shoe boxes everywhere). But it is done. My bridesmaids finally agreed on a style. Here is the link (we got it in apple): http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Short-Satin-Dress-with-Paillette-Details-F13721_Bridal-Party-Bridesmaids-Short-Bridesmaid-Dresses

They also picked out shoes at David's Bridal. I told the girls that they could wear any shoe that they wanted as long as it was black, silver, or apple (and comfortable). I suggested that they get a pair of black strappy heals from their closet so they wouldn't have to buy any new shoes. Then the David's Bridal consultant showed my bridesmaid (the one who kept grabbing dresses) THE shoes. A peep toe, 3.5 in heel with a big bow. The girls wanted these shoes sooo bad (they cared more about the shoes than the dress, go figure :rotfl:). I told my MOH that I was a little concerned about the heel height because I am wearing flats to the wedding (my FI is about .5 in shorter than me) and I didn't want my bridesmaids to tower over me too much (the heels made my MOH and 2 of the bridesmaids about 7 in taller than me. My MOH then suggested that she get a shorter heel (I love her so much :lovestruc) so that she became the same height as me. So the three bridesmaids are wearing the bow shoes and my MOH is wearing strappy heels. They are all dyed apple (my MOH has to wait 2 weeks for hers to be dyed, the others all got their shoes in Apple the day of). So now only two of my bridesmaids will be taller than me. My MOH and my future sister-in-law will be the same height as me. Here is a picture of the shoes my bridesmaids got (in apple): http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Satin-Peep-Toe-Platform-High-Heel-with-Bow-Maribelle_Accessories-Shoes-Peep-Toe

Here is a pic of my MOH's shoes (they will by dyed Apple): http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Dyeable-Satin-Sandal-with-Asymmetrical-Straps-STEPHIE_Accessories-Shoes-Dyeable

I also brought my dress to David's Bridal to try on their slips under it. I found out that I don't need a slip after all! It makes no difference. I also decided that I didn't need a corset (there is one built into the dress). Soooo all I need now for my bridal "look" is a comfy pair of flats and a strapless bra that I love. I will probably find both at a place that doesn't sell "wedding stuff".

I went in to Men's Wearhouse and looked at tux's today. Is it just me or do most of those tux jackets look the same? Josh says it has to do with the fabric (if it is cooler or warmer) :confused3. I picked out the color and the pattern on the vests, and I let Josh choose the rest. I think we might change our style to something a little cheaper. We have until May 1st to nail down a style and get all of the measurements, though. I was amazed at how fast this appointment was (it took us maybe 20 minutes).

My future sister-in-law offered to throw me a bridal shower :woohoo:. I am so excited! My MOH also started talking to me about the bachelorette party. My future mother-in-law has yet to discuss the rehearsal dinner with me (she offered to take care of it, but she hasn't really mentioned it since she offered). Yay for pre-wedding parties !

In the next week, I hope to get the invites and send them out. I have a lot of work to do with the invites. I haven't even gathered all of the addresses yet! I also haven't picked out the invites :scared1:! I know I am such a bad procrastinator :rolleyes1. At least we are going with a DIY kit that I can pick up from the store. That way, we don't need to wait for our order to arrive in the mail.

So we got the invites yesterday. I'll post a pic a little later. I am not totally in love with the invites, but I don't hate them, either :goodvibes. So I started looking up tips for addressing invitations. There are so many etiquette rules :scared1:!

I don't know why but I completely missed your previous update from a week ago.
I've never even thought of wearing a dress at Disney, except to go to a special dinner. It's not too cumbersome in the parks?

Your dresses look nice, and you look cute with the minnie bridal ears. :cutie:

Your tiara looks lovely. :goodvibes

The mouse looks adorable, but the snake is a bit scary. :rotfl:

I'll come back later to continue the comments. Just too tired now.

That's okay. I missed one of your posts from last week, too. I wonder if the dis boards was having trouble or something :confused3?

I thought that a dress might be a bit annoying in the parks, but I always wear sundresses on hot days where I live (way more comfy than shorts). The only problem I can see is the shoes. I am a tennis shoe kind of girl. If I can find a comfy pair of shoes that go with the dresses, then I will wear them to the parks.

Thanks about the dress, ears, and tiara comments. I love that tiara :lovestruc

So we sent out most of the invites on Friday :woohoo:. Josh has yet to get a majority of the addresses for his guests, so those invites haven't been sent out yet. Plus, we were a little short on invites. We bought 2 DIY kits containing 50 invites each, but we are short just a few so we need to buy one more kit. Here is a picture of a finished invite.

IMG_3210.jpg

I am totally going to wedding hell. When we went to send out the invites, we had the option of using dolphin stamps or waiting an extra 7-14 days for the wedding stamps (butterflies). Because we were already running late on the invites, we decided to go with the dolphins :sad2: Oh well, at least they weren't alarm clocks. Oh, and by the way, unless you want to pay an extra 20 cents on postage, don't get invites with bows or buttons!

David's Bridal screwed up and accidentally put in that my wedding was the weekend after we ordered the dresses, so they came in very early (like three days after we ordered them). No harm done :goodvibes. Still, I wasn't expecting to have to pick them up until May 7th! I already posted a link to a picture of the bridesmaid dress, but here is a picture of the dress anyway.

IMG_3223.jpg

While I was at David's Bridal, I decided to pick up a small gift for my bridesmaids. THE shoes have 3.5 inch heels (I posted a link to their pic in my previous post). While my bridesmaids insisted that the heels are comfy, I know that they will kick them off a few minutes into the reception. So I decided to pick each of them up a pair of satin flip flops in the wedding color. Here is a picture of the flip flops.

IMG_3225.jpg

The flip flops are such a good idea! I'm sure your bridesmaids will be very happy with them!

Those invites came out very nice! And I know what you mean about the bows- my DH spent quite a bit of time in the post office smashing the envelopes flat so we wouldn't have to pay the extra fee!

Very cute dress and flip flops. For some reason I thought the color of your bridesmaid dress was green apple. No wonder I couldn't find it on their website! I love this red though. :)

Thanks :) I kind of knew that the bows would be a problem...I was just hoping that they wouldn't be

Thanks :). It is funny that you thought I meant green because one of my bridesmaids said, "You know that I think of green every time you say the wedding color is 'Apple', right?" :rotfl:

So I have my bridesmaid bags done :woohoo:. I bought black and white satin bags from the dollar tree ($1 each) and got a pack of sparkly butterfly clips from the craft store ($6). The grand total for each bag was $2.50 ($10 for all 4 of my bridesmaid totes). Why pay for gift bags when you can give them a reusable tote for the same price? Here is a picture of the bag (with the flip flops in the picture so you can see the scale).

IMG_3270.jpg

I am also working on DIY bridesmaid survival kits. I have the bags and items all done, I just need to print off the labels. The kits include a travel hairbrush, tylenol, latex free bandage, hair tie, 3 bobby pins, a hand sanitizing wipe, wisp brush, floss pick, a pack of gum, travel size deodorant, a panty liner, a tampon, a pack of tissues, and a little poem. I'll post pictures when I am done :) Their survival kits will go in their tote, along with another gift (to be determined)...

I am throwing a butterfly-themed bridesmaid luncheon. I am going to serve strawberry or raspberry lemonade, strawberry salad, tea sandwiches (possibly a platter from safeway, possibly homemade, I haven't decided), and cake. I got butterfly paper plates and napkins from target (their "spring entertaining" plates/napkins/invites/etc are on sale for 1.75). Here is a picture.

IMG_3280.jpg

I know that they don't really "match" the butterflies on the tote bags, but I think that they are really cute. Plus, target sells a matching green gingham table cloth. I still haven't bought that yet, but I am pretty sure I will. I might buy some matching trays, too.

So I am finally close enough to my trip to use ridemax :woohoo:! Unfortunatly, my dad's computer crashed so I need to download ridemax all over again :headache:. We will put it on Josh's laptop this time. That way, we can take it with us on our trip :goodvibes

I love the paper plates. Your plans for the party sound lovely. Your bridesmaids are very lucky :goodvibes

Hey Kira,

I like your bridesmaids dresses. So funny, I was just in Target and staring at those napkins and plates. I'm super obsessed with butterflies. I love them. I was trying to figure out a reason to get those plates and napkins. Can't wait to hear about your luncheon.
